mt owners- 3000rpm in 5th= ?mph
the EVO X box is a new box, your right. And I know what car we're talking about.
I was just saying that Mitsu always offers the GSR in a 5 speed and always offers the MR with the 6sp. That how it was with the previous gen. and it will be the same with this gen. and I got money it will be same in the XI, XII, etc.
They didnt "mess up". The 5sp is more race friendly, just not as DD friendly.
PSA. All you noobs just need to listen (read) sometimes. Damn..........

Uh huh sure. I know the history of the Evo. Doesn't mean Mits' has to repeat the past. Past is gone. X is present day...new. Mits' could have stepped up and given people what they want and made a 6 speed. Every other car maker is putting them out. 5 speed is meh....so old. AND who says you can't use a 6th gear on road course? OR going across the desert at 85 or so. Speed limit here is 75 and the man won't stop you untli you hit 90 so damn right I need a 6th gear and a bunch of other members totally AGREE
well were not talking about the old 6 spd. gearbox...it's brand new. Mit's knows there gearboxes were not that good in some previous evos. They should have stepped up and built a real gearbox. Sorta' like the STi's 6 speed which is quite strong and has great gear ratios. No law says you can't build a strong 6 speed. I'm sure they were just cutting costs with a 5 spd. Whoever is designing these DSM gearboxes needs to replaced + an *** whoopin' for putting owners through hell

FYI - the new SST 6sp tranny that is gonna be in the X MR is made by getrag (sp), not mitsu.
The Sti's 6 speed does not at all have good ratios, IMHO.
Your right, there is no law that says you can build a good 6sp tranny (ever drive a S2K, great, if not perfect 6sp). But If mitsu wanted to do it, they could. I believe that they (mitsu) feel that their 5sp is fine for motorsports & performance, which is what the EVO is all about.
I know were not talking about the old 6 sp. We are talking about the EVO X 5sp. I just mentioned about the other 6sp breaking cuz it was Mitsu's last 6sp. But, the 5sp in the IX also cruised at high RPM at freeway speeds, cuz it had similar ratios to the new X 5sp.

what's the SST got to do with the 5 speed? not a valid argument.. lame
STi ratios are pretty good...I drove one for a good long while. Great all around ratios for track and street. Most people drive on the street...90% of the time+. You make it sound like everyone with an Evo plays at the track all day every day...not
Still living in the past I see. Mits ' knows they need a 6 speed. We know they need a 6 speed..let it go kid. Your starting to sound like a noob

Have you actually seen 155? If so was the cut out harsh or controlled? was the engine struggling at that point or could it easily gone faster? Also was the 155 indicated on the nav - ie, GPS based or speedo only?
Thanks and sorry for all the questions

I mentioned the SST cuz you want a 6sp and it is the only 6sp mitsu is gonna offer.
I have driven many sti's and feel that most of the gears are too tall, but like I said thats my opinion.
Im not living in the past. Mitsu believes in their 5 sp for motorsports and performance and I do too. Damn
Also I can see your new to this forum, but really, this forums is NOT about talking ****, its about about chillin and talking to people about the same car that we all love.
