How fast do you cruise?

Just wondering how fast you guys drive on the highways when there isn't (or is...) traffic. Also for the GSR owners, do you ever choose to travel slower just because of the noise at high RPMs? I tend to keep it around 70-75 mph oh the highway because of both road noise and fuel economy.

Speaking of high RPMs, is it bad to be cruising at high RPMs over long periods of time? I know a friend who drives long distances in his M3 at sustained speeds of 90-100 mph, but it's bearable because of gearing.

If you were to cruise in an Evo at 4500-5000 RPM (100+ mph) for long periods of time, would that dramatically shorten the engine life? I want to know because I make trips often between San Francisco and LA.

The longer you run higher RPMs in anything you're going to shorten the life of the engine. I'm only rockin a DSM, but I cruise about 15 over the speed limit normally. Unless I'm really in a speedy kind of mood then 80-90, lol.

That's with a a stock exhaust and a 14b and the cabin noise isn't bad at all.

I drove to my brother's house which is 3 hours away and I got 24.5 MPG there going 80 the whole way. I was impressed.

The engine is retardedly loud at 80 and even 70 but I guess that's the price we pay. This car needs a 6th gear so bad, worse than the SRT4 does.

Typically I do 10-15 over, but I do have a Whistler Pro 78 radar detector which is tested and proven to be the best radar detector under the Valentine 1/Passport category (the Pro 78 is only $150).

I normally drive about 80mph on the highways since most people around here drive about 70 at least so I don't stick out too much. Definitely got to have a radar detector in these cars, damn cops. I got pulled over last week and got a ticket for my factory HID's? Sorry, it's not a standard lancer bacon man haha

I drive at 80, but I hate cruising at 4K rpm. Damn the whole 5 spd vs 6 spd discussion, I wish I had a 6th gear on the highway.

The speed limit? This was a stupid question with too many variables.
