I've had my manual boost controller on for about 700 miles now. No check engine lights caused by it so far. Did you leave the vacuum line hooked up to the stock solenoids? I think the people who left the input side on haven't had any CELs. I could be wrong, but that's how I have it, and I've heard it has worked for others.
I have already done a write up on this. You need to pull the code to ensure its the same thing, but you are most likely just getting more airflow then the ECU expects at your throttle position. P1235 is the code, and you will know when you triggered it because the idle sticks at 2k. You dont need to pull the battery, you can just turn the car off, and back on, which will resolve the issue. The light will self clear once it passes the checks for the failure several times. Usually takes a few re-starts. Alternatively, you can stop by any Auto Zone, and they will give you a device you can clear the code with for free.
Regardless, you need to get the code, because without that, this is pointless.

It's not really a matter of your peak boost, the problem is where you build boost. The reason you are getting this in 4th/5th gear is because the MBC is most likely building boost levels much quicker then the factory ECU would build boost for those gears. As such, you end up flowing a lot more air then you do with the factory ECU. The ECU compares the amount of air flow, via MAF, and compares the results to a table based on your throttle position. If they differ by a certain percentage, or more, for a specific time period, you throw the code, and go into MAF safe mode, since the car thinks the MAF sensor is broke.
You dont have to pull the battery, you can just restart your car to clear the safe condition. The light will self clear over time, usually less then a day. However, if you keep throwing it, you will just have the car go into safe mode again, and the light will forever be on. I have yet to get this light during very spirited driving, it seems to only come on during partial throttle routines in 5th gear for me. Especially when I am going up steep hills.
The reality is we need to get factory ECU boost control. I think when you couple the electronic throttle body, with a MBC, you end up creating load values that the car doesnt like. Its bad enough that the TB tends to go wide open at just half throttle sometimes.
The reason you are spiking is because of the higher load on the car in 4th and 5th gear. You should try to set your boost in 3rd, then do a 4th gear mini pull, at medium RPM's, to see where it sits. Remember, in 1st-3rd, you are moving through load cells rather quickly, but in 4th and 5th, you will dwell in areas that you normally blow by.

I tried before setting my boost to 22psi in 3rd but in 5th gear i was still hitting about 24.4 - 24.8. I was driving down the road maybe about 70mph and i was just messing with the throttel and it peaked maybe a couple of time from me giving it about 65% - 75% throttel which cause me to go in limp mode.
Do you think it is a bad idea to lower the boost??????
