Yeah, the 40k rumor has to stop. Hardly anyone is paying 40k for the car. Hell, I did, but I also got leather, lifetime oil changes, tint, 3m clear bra, heated seats, and lots of other perks. The reality is most are paying around 33k.

Not only is it under sticker, it's $1k under invoice if Edmunds.com has the correct invoice prices. I got laughed out of a local dealership when I asked if they could match South Coast's price + my shipping cost, which ended up being a few hundred over invoice all together. Another actually asked me not to tell anyone locally because "they're screwing it up for everyone."

Note that these dealerships got 5-8 GSRs in, and have only sold 1 or 2 at most so far. Of the 4 local dealerships, only one would even consider taking below sticker, so I bought at South Coast and had it shipped (2 days to go!).

Given the attitudes of the salesmen I talked to at roughly 35 dealerships, and a base price I consider about $1k higher than it should be, I'm not surprised they're sitting on the lots.

well, I'm doing $500 over invoice on gsr's... I'm not sure how they are doing $1000 below invoice on a car that came out a few months back... They aren't making it back anywhere? Add-ons, finance? Is this through promotions like loyalty etc....?

Not that it isn't a great deal , but I just wonder why they are willing to lose $500 per car sold...

Guess I just have a bad opinion of California dealers... From all the nissan gtr horror stories...

They sound great for consumers though

People need to research somethings before they post. Mitsubishi is up 16.44 percent from February of last year! The X isn't the savior by any means, it's their top of the line sports sedan much like Chevy and their Corvette, Ford and their SVT GT 500.

Mitsubishi's savior is by all means the base lancer and Outlander, more people fit within those guide lines, most or looking for great of fuel economy and looks, the GTS has similarities to both the Ralliart and X making it an attractive buy.

As for the 40k mark up, it does exist as my dealership has one setting in the showroom! Aero package no SSS and they justify the 2k mark up as fair value. When I go to purchase my X this month, if everything goes as planned, they will give me 17k for my GTS, 500 auto show discount, 500 customer loyalty for around 43k, which will include SSS aero and not to mention phantom black pearl with the aluminum shift knob/parking brake and all weather mats.

I truly believe the dealer will work with you if they know you're serious, the economy is bad but media hype makes it sound much worse than what it really is! Once the middle class is reinstated things will hopefully look up! This happened in the 80's, the 90's and now the 00's! But that's another topic which should be had over a great message board such as this!

The economy is not a hype, oil prices are up and the weak dollar is not helping. Mortgage mess is the source and it will get worse before it gets better. No hype just the truth

i raised kinda same question, before . But my thread got moved to the other one /so simply cleared out of way/

I still think the main reason is the unproven status for the X is the most problem. THe economy BS and ugly etc is. i think not true at all.
The economy shouldn't hurt the sales this much, period. It didn't hurt when the IX was in sale 6 months ago. And back then the most guys was "waiting" to the X.
The X is not an ugly car period.

Basically it is up to the X owners to bring the X sales back on track. But looks to me the "new" generation owners lacking the old " Spirit of the Competition" religion...
And exactly that was my problem the X aiming the more mature or other buyers...

The IX hasn't been for sale in the states for over a year. Have you paid attention to what has happened with the economy in the past year to year and a half?

Are you french? 'cause your english is terrible.

WTH? We have plenty of spirit haha. AND I'll bet the economy has something to do with sales. Dollar is dropping like a brick and the market is about fold. Money is harder to come by than 6 months ago for sure.

Damn the car has only been out for a relatively short time and there aren't alot of mods available...ie tuning, suspension etc. Give it some time...give us some options and I'm sure we'll are start modding like mad dogs with no regard for our checking accounts.

here in NE, almost all the evos have the sss or aero packege or both, thats sucks,

all i want is a base gsr

dude at least get the SSS. the wing looks so much better, the fast key is real cool and it has HID's. The sound system also kicks *** but if you want to save weight you can always rip that out. for 2k I think the SSS package is invaluable

if u r old generation of evo ppl , u paid more for a slower car , 5 sp instead of choice of 5 & 6 sp

if u r mitsu's new traget customers , sorry , no MR for u yet

if ralliart and evo mr release at the same time , mitsu will never be able to sell many MR , as its new target customer probably cares much less on the extra HP

i bet if they release MR before the base , the story would have be different

Oil prices have been up since 9/11, foreclosure's are being sold daily for their true market value, high interest rates and banks handing credit out like it's candy is and will always be the source! It's like putting a hand gun in a child's hand, I know people who've filed chapter 11 that still manages to have mortgages, auto loans and credit card, next thing you know their in the same predicament they were months ago. People's lack of responsibility is the leading cause of the mortgage mess!

I personally purchased a foreclosure 2 years back, and their were a total of 6 setting on my block alone, all have been sold and repaired. The fast food industry let alone should almost be able to keep the economy on the rise, it's all government controlled media hype. As far has the oil prices, their bogus and get use to it, Europe's been paying these prices for a long time now.

Thank your government for wasting mass amount of money in warfare and only looking for short term solutions to band aide the cause. Gasoline is big business, it's a combustion engine, not rocket science, 150 mpg is totally achievable on a gasoline engine... What happens to the oil industry then? It'd flop!
