Leith in Raleigh had (has still?) a red GSR with SSS and a red GSR with no options. They weren't negotiating on price though. Hence, I took delivery of EXACTLY the car I wanted from South Coast today, for about $3k less than Leith, including shipping.

Don't know where you are, mid atlantic is a bit vague.

Ive even contacted a local "preferred vendor" on this board and so far the response time is less than stellar with a ratio of 4 emails to his 1.

Given that this EVO is expensive and unproven and made by a company with a less than stellar reputation in an economy in a recession you would think it wouldnt be so hard for me to find what I want when I have a check in my hand. Looks like shipping from South Coast with their great prices and reputation is going to be my only choice.

Anyone have an idea where I should look or who to contact on the east coast mid atlantic region?
You need to check with Rice Automotive in Knoxville, TN. They have 3 GSRs 2 of which are equipped with the SSS and aero packages. 2 of these are under 37k, but from my understanding they are sticking to MSRP and I doubt they will sell below. You might be able to talk them out of the protection package which is essentially pure mark up. Give them a call and ask for Bobby Lee, he is currently the acting sales manager and a real great guy.

i called mitsubishi and a customer rep told me that dealers can order a specific car or just wait until the 09s come out.

it seems that these fully loaded Xs are sitting on dealer lots, so hopefully mitsu gets smarter and starts making more base GSRs and ones with only sss package

Been down to Bob King myself..have a bunch of Evo's, but not really willing to move off MSRP too much. It's hard to buy here knowing CA and IL are really dealing. I'm just reluctant to ship due to issues in the past doing that (although, it seems others haven't had issues). I guess I'll just wait a bit.

have a great weekend!!!

who did you talk to there? they dropped me to 33k plus taxes, fees, and the like. seeing as their sticker price is 35800ish, i was willing to take almost 3k off.

Spoke to 2 different people and the manager. I wanted to get as close as I could to CA pricing (sss+aero) - they said no way. Maybe $1500 off MSRP or so, but not that much. Sounds like you had much better luck.

I am even a previous customer (bought my VIII there prior to the RS6). Oh well...just stopped by there the other night, and told them to give me a call when they can work on their pricing.

Have a good one!!
