Aftermarket HID for my X help
Aftermarket HID for my X help
well i decided to get some HID for my X since i got the base model and i got everything plug in right. After i turn on the headlight everything looked good till i have it turn it off while my car is on both headlight from the HID started blinking real fast as if you were in a car show that with the headlight off when i turn it on it ok. I believe it because of my day-time running light that doin that i found the fuse for the day-time running light took it out but still the HID are blinking while it off when i have my key turn on the car so anyone know anything about this?
This is a common problem with the '08 Lancers.
So far, there's no SOLID work-around without splicing, other than leaving your lights on while driving. Otherwise, yes, you'll be getting a strobe effect.

Until there is a fix, definitely leave that switch on all the time before you start the car, until you key off, etc. Strobing HIDs will kill them faster than anything else could.
Very interesting info on the 08+ Lancer lights. I did not know this.

The flashing lights is likely the same problem as the Mercedes and the Fords. Essentially the body computer is looking for a certain resistance and freaks out when it is different. The solution I found is to wire a resistor or resistors to mimic the voltage seen with a low beam headlight on. Thus the car ECU is happy.
