You should be able to take a grinding stone and smooth it out, then use 220 grit sandpaper and then 320, then 600, 1000, then 1500 depending on how shiney the wheel is. If its chrome then once you get it smoothed out you can tape off the effected area and spray it with chrome wheel paint. Just follow the cans prepping suggestions if the wheel is chrome....otheriwse keep going finder grit until you get the smoothness and shine you want. I would then seal the effected area with some wheel sealer of some sort...clear coat may work. just make sure it wont make that part stand out more than everywhere else.

Not at all. Pedestrians don't have magic "right of way" they have to follow rules like everyone else.

If you run in the middle of the road and get creamed, there is no way you are going to win in court. Sorry.

Not that I'm going to help, but I also curbed one of my wheels. I did so while pulling over for a police officer because I ran a red light. Talk about humiliation.

you make it sound like its the end of the world. i curb the rims of every car i have or had, and every set of rims i bought. it will happen sooner or later. when you sell your car in 5 yrs or so, you will look back and think to yourself, why the hell did i stress so much about puting a 3 inch scratch on my wheels!

Curbing a wheel is basically like throwing anywhere from $200-$800 out the window or down the $hitter. Totally preventable. I think the frustration isn't so much the fact that the car got damaged, but that it could have been prevented.

I wouldn't say that. I suppose if you got the car only for its looks or to show it off fine. I'm going to be rallying mine which means a lot of dirt / gravel roads so I don't expect them to stay shinny and new for very long. As far as I'm concerned if you car doesn't have a few blemishes you aren't using it to its full potential.
