UK's Mag Gets Ho-Hum 0-60/100 w/SST

More evidence of why the MR is not hitting US streets while the GSR is doing the work of making a good first impression. Just goes to show that this car is not going to be about drag-strip times. The GSR is going to have to shoulder the burden of establishing bragging rights for the stop light racers. The MR is looking more and more like a Gentleman's Track Car / DD. Still beat the S3!

Evo x 300 sst tested,

The above was tested in the latest auto express,
The fiqures are not that great, Given its weight and power its about right,
0-60mph in 5.2 / 0-100mph in 13.7,, evo x,,
0-60mph in 4.7/ 0-100mph in 12.9,, impreza sti,,
0-60mph in 5.6/ 0-100mph in 13.8,, audi s3,,

Am I the only one that understands that the evo is not a drag car?

Drag = money + some skill. Track = all skill. evo = track.

The MR is a very fast car and will kick any other cars *** in its price range and the price range above it.

If mitsubishi gets away with selling the MR then expect to see even better and faster MRs in the future.

I don't care so much about drag times, but apparently I had expectations for the SST tranny that were too high. When I think "automated manual" I think about something that's as strong as MT and that shifts itself. Don't get me wrong, I think it's great that Mitsu is offering the SST and plan on owning one, but I guess John Henry gets to go another few rounds against the steam hammer before he keels over and concedes to progress.

Has anyone figured out how much power the SST can handle?

No, but AMS recently was given a MR to be tested on, and they put on like 5 breath mods? So far it is running great I heard, no limp mode whatsoever.

0-60 and 1/4 is what sells cars in the us..... Everyone wants to be the first car off the light even if youre not racing.....

and as far as the 10 being a track car... Every video i've seen so far the 9 and sti's beat the 10 everytime.

I would still buy the 10 because it drives nice and i like all those little features that you dont find in an 8 or 9.

Cheers!

Anyone can make a car go fast in a straight line... It's going fast in the corners that I'm interested in.

THATS WHAT IM SAYIN BRO! you can take a geo metro and put in some huge motor or slap on a bunch of mods and you can make it a very fast car... throw in some corners and it will be a different story. there are few cars that can go from a drag strip, to a road course, to an abandoned dirt road (which is the a rush like no other) without any mods and still be fast. iv been in a few fast cars and yeah it was fun, but on a dirt road 0-60 and 1/4 times are never in mind...try it and you will see what im talking about. dont forget to turn of the asc!

I said Gentleman's track car, not super ***-kicking track car. In any case, I don't know about the vids you've seen but in it's STi/MR/GSR comparo R&T said the MR ran the fastest lap of the day at Willow Springs and was as fast or faster than the IX. That was with a professional driver at the wheel.
