Thats one thing I'm still getting use to, how the revs sometimes hang on forever, a good ECU tune from Mitsu should fix this issue.

Dude, I have the reflash. Can't you people read? The up top power is far better and that bog is gone...this is a different one. This only happens when power shifting at high revs.

I was told I can't receive the reflash until I see major side effects or have the engine light appear on the odom. So far nothing really major, just the notchy stick and the occasionally not wanting to go into first, I just play with the shifter in neutral and it goes right in. So far my only real compliant is 3rd and 5th gears seem really close, once I get a better feel for the car that problem will fix it's self.

I think we all should meet up and drive each other's cars to see how different they are

+1... Thats my problem, don't know what another evo drives/feels like. Although the flash fixed all the things that I thought were slightly off.

And sorry about that love9sick. I saw the forum topic and was running out the door and I assumed you were talking about the bog that the flash fixed for me. Just wanted to say that before I ran out the door cause didn't know when I would be back on.

Turning ACS off didn't help. Neither did turning the other stuff off. I am thinking it is either throttle response or the pill thing preventing instant clutch engagement because that is what it feels like.

While funny, it isn't a stupid idea. I saw a video of some guys accelerating in his and it pulled way better gear to gear than mine...yet he had the same mods. It is really weird.

Well, I went out and tested the bog between shifts with ASC turned off and there is no difference. I think it's the restrictor pill not engaging the clutch immediately. God the trannys in these cars are garbage. Between the crunchy/grinding shifts, the clutch being too soft and wearing out too quickly like they always have, and the stupid restrictor pill the car just doesn't drive well. Have mitsu trannies always been this poorly made?

I love my X don't get me wrong, but the tranny problems just kill the enjoyment factor for me. I have a very love/hate relationship with my car right now. Mitsu will do nothing for us though, I can promise you this. This is my first mitsu and they are already living up to the reputation that I've heard so much about. Fun car, lots of problems, warranties that don't mean anything. Welcome to the family.

I took mine back out tonight and I've started to adapt to it's funky ways, I wouldn't consider the transmission garbage by any means, try driving a 99 3.8l Mustang manual, talk about clanks, clutters and glazed ridden clutch pads. I think Mitsu will do something, my dealership said they were looking into a fix, I gotta drop my old keys off and if I hear anything I'll be sure to post a.s.a.p. Peace

Yea, there is something funky about this tranny. To many limitations and to weak of a clutch also. .. The car it self is solid though. Just need to figure this thing out cause the shifts are killing some time during acceleration

Let us know what they say about the tranny. Though I doubt they will touch these problems.

Have to agree with this...but maybe I'm just not noticing...

Maybe it's because I don't have a short shifter??

I don't think you understand what we are talking about. The issue is when speed shifting, pimarily from 1st to 2nd, when the clutch is first let out and the gas is mashed the car bogs down and hesitates. Implying that it is our shifting technique is ignorant and I assure you, not the cause of the issue. Some people have issues with their X that others don't, like the crunchy shifting. Shifting gears in my X feels like the tranny is grinding and falling apart. Tell me it's my shifting technique, go ahead. I've been driving manual cars for the last 10 years and have been auto crossing and road racing for the majority or those years. I guess I just suddenly forgot how to drive a stick when I bought my X, right? I don't feel like getting a warning from SASD209, because he hands them out like candy so I'll leave it at that.

There is NOTHING that can be done about this "bog" shifting/pause between shifts. It's been there since the earlier Evos and it's still there with the X.

It is the number one reason I have not been convinced to purchase the Evo. The bog/pause is most prevalent between 1st and 2nd gear and it really takes away from an otherwise enjoyable driving experience.

Btw, if you don't experience this bog, I'm 99% sure you're one of those drivers who rides the clutch between shifts [which is not good].

Have you guys noticed that the RPMs drop way too quickly between shifts as well? It made rev matching and blipping the throttle more "conscious" as opposed to an automatic procedure.

Well, what I want to know is why the rpms refuse to drop when first moving the car from a stop. I can tap the gas and blip it up to like 3k and it takes forever for it to drop back down to idle. Retarded.
