Dealer reflash impressions
Dealer reflash impressions
I just got the reflash today from the dealer. Now this car has become a fun car to drive. I was beginning to think that, I spent all this money on this supposedly fast car but I will need to spend more to actually feel that. Although the update was mostly to fix the idle problem and high RPM hesitation, it did provide a power increase and the top end isn't useless anymore
. The car is now giving me the satisfaction feeling I should've had since the beginning. I will follow up with any differences I notice in MPG but right now I'm just trying to enjoy the car as much as possible by revving it all the way up to redline, it just feels soooo gooood. I will also order the HKS drop in filter today, I'll let you guys know how that goes.

I think I just changed my mind on the HKS filter. I read this general review on filters and I don't think I want to put that specific filter on my car. Check it out. http://mkiv.com/techarticles/filters_test/2/
i agree go with the $20 filter... i dont have the reflash but with the new filter i felt a little bit more power and the turbo is sooo much louder. anyway good thing to hear about the reflash! im gonna go get it soon
I called my local Mitsubishi service department and asked them about the reflash...and they said there isn't one for the 2008 models..
"Maybe if your car is '03-'04"
-Glendale Mitsubishi

Someone local in our area just went through the same thing. Eventually they came up with it for him. Try asking some of the other guys what the TSB # is for the reflash. Then bring that to Mitsu.

Oh and, the customer service representative was terrible..
That's BS. I got my car reflased at Southcost Mitsubishi last Saturday, 4/19/2008. It did get rid of that hesitation around 6000 rpm, and idles much better. I'm not so sure about more horsepower...it may have. But definitely revs much more smoother.
Yeah at my dealership they thought they didn't have it either. But then they had a mechanic look for it to see if maybe they just didn't notice and they found it. It's because they don't work on many Evo X. There are very few in NY right now. I've yet to see another one other than mine. Give them this TSB 0813006. Once they look it up they'll find it.
I'm waitign for the dynojet people in vegas to email me the sheets from the preflash and post flash runs they did on my car.... I can tell you it gained zero peak HP. it des run better at higher revs, but the runs were at most .5 hp / tq off from the baselines i did a week before the reflash
The power band seems much more linear all the way through, still haven't gotten to red line yet, but up to 6k seems like it pulls a lot harder.
As far as the idle goes, supposedly it is supposed to fix it, but my idle still isn't solid.

I totally agree with you. I went into the dealership expecting nothing, and left amazed. I had heard people were talking about a noticeable improvement, but didn't expect this. I couldn't be happier with this car. I noticed two things right away. When leaving the line, the car doesn't bog down anymore. It's easy to get the car up to speed from a stop. I also noticed this car pulls like a monster all the way to redline now. Before, my car would run out of steam past 5Krpms. I would defiantly recommend everyone to get it. I just hope it doesn't restrict modding ability.
