Dealer reflash impressions
I just got mine done, and it makes a big difference in the throttle response.
Also, when they do the reflash, they put a Mitsubishi sticker under the hood that says that the reflash was done and is a "Mitsubishi Authorized Modification" with the TSB number and date on it.
My dealer had no clue about the reflash either, until I called him 5 times a day everyday and complained. Finally they called me the next day and told me the reflash came in. Some dealers just aren't as savvy as others.. Just keep trying.
They are the reason why I drove 1.5 hrs each way to South Coast Mitsubishi!
I got my first car from them, my mom loved the saleman, so I tried getting my 2nd car from the same guy...he's cool, but just couldn't make it happen. So I got my car somewhere else (Long Beach).
When the Evo came out, I thought what the hell, I'll give Glendale another shot - couldn't make it happen, again. Back to Long Beach.
But anyway, beside the point - their service department = oblivious. (MMNA for that matter as well..)
Most places in Philly have 93 octane for premium. About the reflash, yes it does fix the high rpm hesititations and the erratic idle. But have you guys ever press on the brakes of the car a couple of times after the reflash? My idle was fluctauting crazy during the time I pumped the brakes. Is that normal?
I was just told today by my dealer that the reflash is only available for cars with idle issues. In the words of the service manager, "it does nothing to effect gas mileage, richness, or power, it only effects how the car idles." I gave them the TSB # and everything, same deal, they refused to reflash it unless they could duplicate the idle issue or find a CEL.
To further my frustration, they also told me that the notchiness shifting into 2nd and 3rd was "completely normal" regardless of how loud it clunks or jams when shifting. To top if all off, they charged me $30 to install the front plate bracket they didn't install before I left when I bought it. This just furthers my belief that mitsu dealers suck, know nothing, and have no problem charging you for it.

I think most dealers are bunch of knuckheads. I live in socal, and I've called Puente Hills Mitsu, Anaheim Mitsu, and Norton Mitsu and they had no idea about the reflash. I've give them the TSB number, and they said they won't reflash it unless I have CEL. I finally called SouthCoast Mitsubishi, and they knew exactly what to do. UNBELIEVABLE!!! Well, I guess you got to figure they are not exactly rocket scientist working at the dealership.... anyway just happy to find a dealer that knows a little about the EVO X.
