I'm gonna stick to the GT-500 and consider the X if I fail at beating the rich guys.

 

Bottom line... Gas prices are getting higher and will continue to get worse. Look around at all the cars. How old are you? As awesome, and as much as I love my EVO, sometimes I hate being associated with the 'kid ricer' fad. If i could do it all over again, I would have personally gone with an infiniti G37 coupe. Think long and hard and don't make any rush decisions. Think long-term, and good luck!

 

I bought my IX MR from my mechanic who had purchased a Gt500...
He now has a near 700 horse KB package on the GT

He still lusts after my MR (Buschur stage 1)

If its going to be a daily driver or an auto x car - go EVO
If you have a DD and are just gonna drag it - go gt500 all the way

The EVO will attract kids and tuners, the stang will attract yuppies and rednecks

lmao ya... I just hate being in a ricer car some times cause the morons in a civic think they hot **** and cut me off trying to prove something. If I'm alone i'll goo all out but, if im with my family, my godson or my girl, thats foul play man. and that happens a lot here in miami with our big whide roads. i much rather have a redneck pull up next to me and give me a thumbs up on the car than a kid try and race me with their civics.

Here is my take on this, (I owned 4 mustangs 85 GT, 89 5.0 drop top, 94 Saleen, 99 Saleen). Owning imports also since im a fan of most any cars. I would definately say follow your heart on that one. I will always be a Mustang fan and there is a reason why the mustang survived 40 + years and I can say I dont know any other cars Brands lasted that long. It's a passion. I can say this the SHELBY will be a true collector since Carrol Shelby is in his late 80's and when he passes on this car will shoot up in price. Look at the 60's shelby stangs they go for 500 k or more in mint condition. You cant say that about the Evo X not yet. Mustang is true heritage and yes MUSTANGS can be good road race cars even with the live axle. That is fact. Now that being said. I would go for something that is practle due to gas prices and such. Also superchargers I love them but there are reliability concerns. You have to change the supercharger belts every 6 months if I remember correctly. My previous stang was supercharge. Comes down to how much you want to spend in gas price. My friend is only getting 8 miles a gallon in his 07 GT 500 so that will be up to you. I would get the Evo.

 

Get a GTR or Supra I mean I hear about things being so easy to register down there in florida. That people will practically register anything. I'd personally go with your heart though. Do you honestly see yourself drag racing more or auto Xing more? Mustang will be great for Drag and the evo will be okay at autoX. If you go the auto Xing route get a Lotus Elise.

Dude I wouldn't even look in the direction of the mustang.. Why? Cause they are dangerous and totally not worth the money.. Loose rear ends.. Terrible in the rain.. 500hp, who cares.. A factory 400hp vette hands the Shelby it's *** in every category.. Not even the Z06 or the new ZR1.. And I'm not just saying this cause I have EVO's.. I've had 2 Mustangs before.. An 87 GT, and 91 5.0 LX (supercharged).. Nothing sounds as sweet as a stang, but they just aren't practical.. And you gotta drop lots o cash to make them do what the Evo does naturally..

So For a DD, I'd rock the EVO.. Perfect in every aspect of weather and road condition.. Nuff said..
