+1 I just left it on cuz it was hard to get off.

You could get one of those oil extractor thingies that sucks the oil from the dipsitck hole. That way you wont have to worry about the drain plug Don't worry about the thing not sucking up all the oil from the dipstick hole, the dipstick hole goes all the way down to the bottom of the oil pan. I've been using one for years along with 2 friends that borrows it to change their own oil. What makes it even more killer for me is that my car's oil filter is underneath the hood close to the engine. I never have to get under the car.

Why on earth would anyone void your warranty because you changed the oil in your own car? Even Mitsubishi aren't that stupid.

+1 on the crush washer.. Its there... its painted black, and easiest way to remove is to use a box cutter or razor blade to separate it fromt the drain plug.

I hope you are being sarcastic...doing your own oil change shouldn't void anything. If they do, might as well void the warranty when you add window fluid lol

not being sarcastic at all, shouldn't you be able to prove that you are indeed changing your oil as to not void warranty? doing it yourselves, how would you prove that you are following the scheduled maintenance? am i just overthinking it?

Don't think any dealership is stupid enough to void warranty if you don't have receipts for oil changes... If you're this worried, save your receipts for the oil/filter and write down in the back of the manual when you do the changes.

thanks for the info, i have always done my own oil changes on all my cars. the evo is my first brand new one so not sure on how those warranty things work, guess got me kinda paranoid reading a bunch of people writing stuff that dealerships would try anything and everything to void the warranty.

btw, sorry for the OT.

Hate to revive this thread, but looking to get tranny+tcase+diff fluid changed and noticed I need a "gasket" for the drain and filler bolts. Just wondering if a crush washer is what is intended. Lost 2 Mitsu dealers since I bought my car, so I'm semi-curious how to get this done if I take it to a different shop to get it serviced.

Hate to dust up, a somewhat old thread. But here are some pics of that oil drain plug metal gasket everyone is talking about..
Earlier today, I stopped by my local dealer and bought an oil filter. Gonna do an oil change in another 300 miles..
