Did anyone notice when changing their oil?

Did anyone notice when changing the oil on their X that there was no o-ring gasket on the drain plug? Is that how all the X's are? I don't see any leaks from since changing it. Any comments or feedback on this? Thanks!

I noticed it but didn't really think much of it. You're not alone

Well, it didn't leak before the oil change right? Don't sweat the lack of a washer if it doesn't leak.

LOL wow they really were cost cutting if there is a mitsubishi part number for a drain plug washer that wasn't installed at the factory...

I did notice. I also noticed mine was dripping after my last oil change. I tightened the drain plug snug, and thought it was plenty tight, guess not. I got it very tight now and no leaks

well there actually is a gasket there(I bought some filters and gaskets from russell a few months back when they had a special). it is just really hard to get off. it is easy to tell that it is there when you have a brand new gasket to compare to what is stuck on the drain plug....I also just left the gasket that was on there alone as it was extremely difficult to get off.

So the X does not use crush washers like the VIII, or does it? If they do, is it the same part number?

There were a few threads on here by people who has done their oil changes already. The original ring is painted and is actually on the drain plug. You either have to pry it off or just get a new plug and ring.

There is a crush washer clearly listed in the tech manual. I ordered the filters and crush washers from JNZ when I bought me oil chnage supplies.

I bet you guys have a crush washer on your drain bolt and don't know it...it's very hard to see..had to use a razor blade to pry it off the bolt.

Actually my VIII was the same way on its first change if I remember correctly. I had to cut it off with an X-acto knife as well, I could have sworn that it was not on there until I got it off..
