Boosting 26 PSI On Pump 91 Gas Is It Safe?

Anybody here is boosting 26 psi on the Pump 91 on their X?

I was boosting 23 psi when I installed my MBC when the car is still stock.

When I Tee'd off my Boost Gauge line on the BOV it is reading 26psi or 1.8 Bar.

Does adding a downpipe, testpipe, catback exhaust, bigger intercooler, IC pipes and intake raises the boost 3 psi more?

I would assume that because the turbo is breathing a lot better now and its not choking. Hence the 3psi of boost increase?

I'm on 91 pump gas right now and boosting 26psi. No hesitation at all pulls real hard to redline, no fuel cut either why is that? I would assume it will do a fuel cut once you past 23 psi?

I would also like assume that boosting 26psi is safe because the car tuned realy rich from the factory and by boosting 3 psi more you are making it leaner? Does it make sense?

Also I have the AEM alcohol injection installed and planing on boosting 28 to 30psi on pump 91 gas. Running 50/50 Meth and Water.

If you set your MBC to 26 psi, I'm pretty sure that your car will go into limp mode. David Buschur posted something about that issue. My car got two CEL and got into limp mode.

You could tune it with Ecutek and have the boost peak at 26 psi. I'm sure your tuner can adjust the timing and fuel to make it RELATIVELY safe.

Run a boost leak test. Then get your car data logged im sure your not boosting 26psi. Maybe 21 at most.

no it doesnt make sence you need to be tune for your mods thats pretty crazy 26psi on 91 **** with no tune!! you need to turn the boost down on your mbc before you do damage and get a tune asap...

We dataloged everyhing on the Dyno including boost when car is still stock and set the boost to 23psi.

The car wont boost past 24psi. It will initiate a fuel cut.

I don't know why its boosting 26psi all of a sudden with just the additinal of the mods mentioned on the first post?

Also why is the ECU allowing it to boost 26psi? and not initiating the fuel cut anymore?

Right now the car feels very strong, like its already tuned.

I think your boost gauge is telling lies. Especially if you're not getting a SES light.

I tee'd it off in between the BOV line that connects to the manifold. Do you think that is the reason why its not giving me a good boost reading?

No SES light either. Weird.

What gear are you hitting 26 psi in? I was hitting 24-25 psi in 5th at low rpms without a SES light when I had my MBC, but only hit 23 in 3rd. I suggest getting a tune. I'm running about 25.5 on the Works tune with 91 octane.

LOL

Maybe it is a Freak EVO from the Factory. We added a boost controller set it at 23psi and it made 50whp more on a dyno dynamics dyno which reads lower than a Mustang Dyno. Everything else on the car is stock, except for the Dejontool MBC.

I have the Defi BF Boost Gauge with the Type 2 Controller installed.

It is hitting 1.8 Bar or 26 psi with no hesitation at all during third gear pulls, and it will settle down to 20psi by redline.

When we dynoed the car the car A/F Ratio was at around 10:1 on the upper RPM range, which is super rich.

I think I should be safe, I'm assuming by boosting 3 psi more it is leaning it self out on the upper RPM's.

I realy like the power delivery, it feels like my old EVO VIII with 350whp.

What do you guys think?

I'd turn the boost down a couple PSI on the MBC until you can get it on a dyno. If you're hitting 26psi in third, there's not telling what you're hitting in fifth.

Its just hitting it for a moment, right? Like it spikes and then settles?

I had a Defi gauge in my VIII and it said I was running 32psi on my 3071R when it was actually 28psi.

Easy way to tell, partial throttle boost fifth up to 22psi around 3500rpm for a second. If its really as high as the gauge is reading, it will throw a SES.

I would think it would be the boost gauge reading wrong.

I think you should turn it down.....at least until you can get it on the dyno and see where you AFR's are at. I know that you like the power and all. but you can either have a little less power now or a lot less power later when you break something and end up with a yard ornament

Id turn it down as well, either that or boost gauge is reading a little high. You WOULD be throwing a CEL.

Nice progress with the car though!
