I agree but i think people are changing the oil at 500 at first just to get the metal out.

5 qts every 2k. Oem filter and mobil 1 until I can get around to getting a case of Amsoil

I used 5 qts when I did mine. I also used a Mobil 1 M1-110 filter I think...

kinda off topic but related to oil changes.

this is my first turbo car but i have done oil changes on all my cars including my wife's 2002 galant and her sisters 2004 mitsu lancer.

what i wanted to ask is, it pretty much the same on all cars? just remove oil drain plug and oil filter and thats it?

According to my charts, the EVO, through the years, varies slightly on the amount of oil it holds.

Just make sure you use a True Synthetic oil. The Evo comes from the Factory with Synthetic Fluids..

AMSOIL, Mobil 1 EP... 2 best on the market
