Loyal EVO owners Vs New Buyers
I have always been an evo fan but never owned one due to my income. So now that i could afforded one i bought me an Evo X. But my bro as had an VIII for like 3 yrs that i was always in.
I studied both EVO and STi before settling on the STi. I knew both cars performed similarily, in stock form, so it was the styling of the 05 STi that won me over. However, this new X looks fantastic...my STi is currently on the market and will be replaced by the X, at some point. Seems like Mitsu is working out a few bugs with these new 08 models. May wait a few more months, let the MR come out, and see how things look then. But I am sold on the styling and potential of the X. So I would fall into the styling got me category.
Well after only small block Chevys I wanted to completely change directions and decided turbo-4 with four doors was the way I wanted to go. After looking around at my options for about 8 months the 2000 camaro was gone and the X in the garage. Don't regret the descision at all.
I started off with an '04 VIII...kept it for 3 years...made the HUGE mistake of trading it in for an 06 350Z...
I missed having 4 doors and the insane and cheap power that the Evo delivered. I had never been one to buy the initial year of a new car...but after reading about how well it was built...I couldn't wait. It was either the X or a IX. After reading up on the car and actually driving it and seeing it in person...I was sold.

I had a 400hp 03 VIII for a year. I traded it for a supercharged benz and I've missed it every day since. Mods for the benz were expensive and there wasnt many to choose from. I had to customize from scratch. Planned on buying an IX Mr but then the X came out. I was sold before the test drive. Evos are one of the easiest cars to mod.
I wanted to get the IX when they came out and I have been a big fan of the EVO since I drove the VII overseas.
but I had others cars and didnt need it. Now that I am down to one , I am looking for 4 door( if gas hits $5 I m buying a 4 cyl honda). the styling of the nine just appeals more to me but X does look good and people say the chasis is superior. I am not sure now that IF I get a IX or a VIII right now, I might like the evo X styling later and then I have to replace it again. so I am just gonna wait. I have bought 4 cars in the last 5 years and have taken my fair share of depreciation.

First evo for me... had a 2002 wrx and a 1989 sh!tbox dodge colt (lancer). I have been reluctant to go
after my experiences as an import mechanic in the 90's and my wonderful 1.5 liter lancer experience, but the "10" seemed to be the right balance between pure sport and a refined driver. I was underwhelmed by the power, but the handling sold me right away when the salesman told me not to be a wuss and go around the corners faster.
I may try to pay off the 10 and buy something with a larger motor in the future (or maybe smaller with the way gas prices are going). The evo X is the best handling ride I've ever owned.

VIII and IX, now X owner.
i loved all of them and i do love my X too. I cant wait until next year, that will be a time to start building seriously the X . Sadly no after market support there yet, what i like a lot. and i do not want to buy something what i will regret later. So i will wait out until the more companies coming out they stuff and i can compere them .
