does putting a decent down payment help persuade a lower interest rate? i need to get the payments at or under 500/month.

oh and i'll have a cosigner with really really good credit (my dad)

Just wait

If history serves as our guide, Mitsubishi will have 0% financing deals when sales are low and the models are aging. So wait a year or two and you will likely see the Evo go back to 0%.

More down payment = less principle = shorter term needed to pay off car. A shorter loan period will usually bring a little lower percentage. Any percentage around 5 is average (from what I've seen).

+1 on that. They have 6 joining options, the 6th choice is joining NMFA (National Miltary Family Association) w/ a $20 fee for a 1 year memebership. The thing is, you don't need to maintain the NMFA membership to stay in the credit union, only to join. Hope that helps
