Yep, it's aluminum

Late for work this morning, I overzealously tugged on my seat belt and the metal D ring part hit the edge of my handbrake lever near the release button. Made a tiny ding in it.

Well, at least now I know it's really aluminum.

This happened to my VIII ebrake grip. The best way to fix it is just to polish it out. Sand it down with heavy grain slowly working all the way down to 000 steel wool. Then hit it with some mothers billet polish and it'll look great. I don't know how to create a brushed finish.

Tried to put on my seatbelt in a hurry and so far twice I've managed to ding the aluminum hand brake button. Ahhhhhhhhhh! My new routine is to put my seatbelt on after i release the parking brake, but now it's kinda too late even if I'm really carefull.

I'm almost considering just dinging the hell out of the end so that it has the dimpled look... an extra here or there will go completely unnoticed then.
