Can the S-AWC Choose Modes On Its Own?

Driving on a wet road i heard a indicator ding and looked at my dash to see that my evo decided the road was wet enough to switch from tarmac to gravel.

has this happened to anyone else?

I read the whole s-awc section in the owners manual and it mentions nothing about the car having a mind of its own.

I don't think it'll change it for you, but it most definitely will suggest that you check what type of road you're driving on.

Lately it's been happening a lot when I make quick turns, it'll say "CHECK TARMAC."

that ding was the asc indicating that you lost traction. turn it off and you won't have it do that anymoer.

Ya, the "TARMAC" flashing means that you aren't driving like a grandma anymore!
