Did you have the awc reflash? Were you driving in extreme cold? (less than 30 degrees)

Basically when it gets cold out the fluid becomes too thick and the pump cant flow and burns up. The reflash is supposed to prevent that. Rear end colision could also cause it, that's where the pump is. No matter what, you gotta take it to the dealer. It's under warranty.

Mods I have: AP, TBE exhaust.
I think I had a reflash for the AWC a year ago. It has been cold the last few weeks ranging from 0 to -10 degrees celsius.
Is it safe to still drive the car until it can be serviced?

It's safe. I wouldn't recommend getting driftastic tho.

It's your ACD hydraulic pump. Mine just went out 1,700 miles past the warranty. $2,000 to replace. Very disappointing. I've heard of many of these failing. They seem to be mostly in colder climates. I'm very interested to know what caused the failure.

What's your mileage? I thing the powertrain warranty is 5 r/50,000 miles. Not 100% tho.

Mitsubishi said the pump is not considered part of the drivetrain, so 3yr/36K for it.

aw snap. thanks. But that's lame it's not covered. I have the 7 year/70,000. And thankfully cause my pump went out at 36,6xx no joke. So the extended warranty already paid for itself...

There are 2 reasons for the pump mulfunction:

1) VERY cold weather makes the oil thick and the pump burns

2) the pump is not shielded against dust and salt going from rear wheels. The mess gets into poorly sealed pump and causes motor malfunction.

My went out in 30k miles...

so is this like a common issue or just a handful of people experiencing the pump going out?

^^^^ Id like to know this also, mine came on just recently but thought it was from my clutch slipping.
