How reliable is the X?

If I get the X, it's going to be for the long haul, so I was wondering about its reliability in stock form and in lightly modded form. I'd go for some light mods, like a chip and an exhaust, and coilovers when the stock shocks are shot. Do you think these mods will impact the reliability much, compared to stock?

Youre asking a longevity question on a car that most people wouldnt even have owned a year.

evos don't need "chips."

i think any car would have a decent reliability if you leave it alone in stock form. but again, if you're really itching to do "light mods", then make sure the work is done right and not half assed.

Sorry, I just said chip out of habit bc i'm old school.

I'm just asking because I had a B5 S4, and what a money pit that turned out to be (stock or not). I definitely don't want to go through that again, hence me asking about the reliability.

If you don't like spending money do not buy an Evo.

I don't think he was saying it's unreliable, I believe what he meant was that you'll take a hit from maintenance costs.

So far I've had my car since March, 16k miles, drove it hard when it just had 1000 miles, and I do an oil change every 5000 miles, and it's been good so far, but it's honestly just still too early to tell.

Good news is that I still have the same tires from the beginning (and they aren't worn yet!), and nothing so far has had to be replaced.

But yeah, as someone else stated, keep any car stock and it'll probably last you long, as long as you don't beat on it.

I think almost any car anymore is reliable. Your new cars have 1 turn start up and dont' rust like cars from the 80"s. Just keep up with maintance if done yourself is not that expensive I have had no issues with my ww x so far and honesley it puts a smile on my face every day it's worth the price of enrollment.

If it's anything like the Evo 8 it will be dead reliable. I beat the crap out of mine over countless track events and never had any issues. Car was making about 338whp with a few mods.

if you have the stock tires on for 16k miles, you haven't driven the car hard... not meant to sound like a *****...just saying! Mine are almost done and i have about a third of that and i drive my car pretty aggressive at times.
