How reliable is the X?
Like any other modern car, if you take care of it, it will take care of you. Be proactive with all of your fluid changes, regularly monitor wear items, and be diligent with maintenance items, the car will last you. If you skip oil changes, treat the gearbox like a drag car, drive the car hard and put it away hot, and try to do four wheel burnouts, you'll wonder why the car is giving you fits.
If anything may potentially be an issue with the car beyond your control, it would be the sophisticated electronics relating to the AWD.

I don't think he was saying it's unreliable, I believe what he meant was that you'll take a hit from maintenance costs.
So far I've had my car since March, 16k miles, drove it hard when it just had 1000 miles, and I do an oil change every 5000 miles, and it's been good so far, but it's honestly just still too early to tell.
Good news is that I still have the same tires from the beginning (and they aren't worn yet!), and nothing so far has had to be replaced.
But yeah, as someone else stated, keep any car stock and it'll probably last you long, as long as you don't beat on it.

It's unfortunate, and I'll regret it later on in the long run, but I just can't seem to change my poor habits.
Changing oil every 3k, especially synthetic, is a complete waste of money (and bad for the environment). In the 1950's sure, but I can assure you oil and engine technology have come a looooooong way since then.
