Thanks guys, it was great seeing all of you there also. Once this transmission has been proved to handle some power PPI will defenitely start doing their magic on it!

I am sure with some basic mods and a tune you will be up there in power.

seems this may be the culprit: "One by one, we got the cars strapped to the outdoor Dynamic Test Systems Dyno. We dynoed the GSR first and it put down 268 AWHP, near what was expected on this particular dyno. Next up was the Subaru, which pulled 273 AWHP, besting the Evo. Finally, we tied down the MR, which read a mere 246 AWHP. We were surprised at first with the low consistent number from the MR. After consulting with Mitsubishi about the issue, it was concluded that the ‘too-smart for the dyno transmission and half-dozen ECU’s determined that the front and rear rollers (not connected) were spinning at different speeds and interpreted this difference as an absence of traction, subsequently dialing back power. Even with the low numbers, our experiences over the rest of the weekend suggested the MR had the same amount of power as the GSR."

That's what I read too.

Mustang Dynos #s usually read lower compared to a Dyno Jet. So your car is probably making a little bit more power than stated.

Not even some basic mods, all he needs is a good tune and he will pick up around 50-60 whp.

I am learning the hard way, I pumped my X full of bolt ons, and had it tuned... dynoed at 327whp/334wtq on 91 octane. That same week a completely stock X jumps on the same dyno and posts almost the same numbers, but slightly lower torque value, with NO mods! Just a tune. I believe they posted around 324whp/327wtq or something to that effect.

I think I'm seeing a pattern of where an aggressive tune can reach nearly the same limits on the stock turbo as a moderate tune and some hard parts. The stock turbo just stops flowing at 38 lbs/min and how you reach that limit doesn't matter as much. You'll get into the 110-112 mph trap speed range but after that it will be like pulling hens teeth trying to go faster without removing the flow limitations of the stock turbo.

Mods that directly improve flow in and out of the turbo would likely effect performance but other than that you can have an open exhaust downpipe back or the best 5" thick intercooler with 3" piping and the difference will be very small until the biggest restriction is resolved. I think of it as a speed limiter, it's fine for daily driving but once you want to row the gears at high RPM it just sucks how boost tapers from 24 psi down to 18 psi at the rev limiter no matter what you do.

I wouldn't worry about the MR dyno numbers too much, likely just breaking it in a bit more will yield more HP and it's a generally known the MR's with the SST transmission dyno slightly lower due to various reasons. It would be interesting to dyno it again later on with the ASC turned off to see if it doesn't get as angry about the slightly different speed of the rollers on the dyno.

Interesting because the Ralliart has been dynoed at 222 whp;
