Paint Chipping: Aero Kit/Mudflaps/3M/Deal with it

Looking to get some feedback now that the Evo X has been out for a while as to what people think about the whole paint chipping topic. As far as I know the aero kit does help but is it worth the $2000 for those who may have been swayed to purchase it for that reason; or will the mudflaps suffice for a much cheaper cost? Or is there a better solution someone considered?

I'm going to be purchasing an X and I'm considering getting the aero kit because of the look AND hopefully it saves the paint. Personally I can't justify the extra cost just for looks alone, I think the car looks sick even without it. However, if it saves the headache about worry about the paint, well, I have a decision to make.

So what have YOU done Evo X owners????

-Purchased the aero kit to help save the paint chipping
-Throw on some mudflaps
-3M back door panel
-Deal with it, it's not that bad

looking back i would have spent the $2k for the aero kit, since i didnt i went for the next best thing, the OEM mud flaps. it did stop the rock chips in my case.

Thumbs down Mud Flaps

I've yet to EVER see a set of mud flaps that look good on ANY car! I bought the car with the Aero Pkg but for the looks. I also had the 3M Clear Bra done on the front, sides and back. Expensive ($850).... Getting back to the chips..... I'd rather have the chips then see any mudflaps!

I have the mud flaps that i will use in the winter but leave them off the rest of the year. I went all out...bought the aero package, the 3m and have the flaps (although i have not used them yet)...no chips yet.

Cars get stone chips, the car dealer can sort them out when i trade it in.
My evo 9 was way worse in blue, it had no paint left on the edge of the back door frame.

My GG isn't so noticeable with the small chips caused by the sticky tires. Like most of the others that have posted, I just can't justify mud flaps to stop the "chipping", as it just looks too "bleh" for me.

I'll deal with it for now, I'll take care of the situation if and when it gets worse, it's really not that bad at all, not for me at least, only 900 miles on the X so far.

Aero kit here from the factory and not one rock chip yet at 2k miles. This may change if I swap to wider wheels and tires since they are tucked into the wheel well right now but so far I'm happy.

No Aero kit here, the OEM mud flaps work well. Some may not like the look, I personally do...

No aero kit. I do have the mud-flaps along with a large amount of 3m-tape.(As seen here : https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=336771 )

The chipping has stoped but the cones keep attacking me. I would like to do my entire bottom rocker panel next as that is getting mauled. My hood is starting to get chips aswell, maybe another clear bra is in the future.

I would have liked the aero kit but I could not afford it at the time.

My paint is "pealing" by my bumper/wheel. I think I'm going to throw some 3mtape over the area to "seal" it.

I've also come to the conclusion that the paint is going to be chipped. I've curb the car many times and chipped a nice 2"x2" chunk of paint off my front end.(3,500 miles) I wash and wax the car at least once a week so it's not that I don't care about it. It's just what it is.

If you can afford the aero kit go for it! I think it looks nice.
