E85 fuel on the X

I'm going to be moving soon and I noticed that there's an E85 station in that area. According to other forums there's a lot of HP to be gained from making the switch. I'm really considering this option since I expect E85 to take off due to high gas prices. Apparently the only mods needed on car is a new fuel pump and new injectors. Is anyone else considering this option on their X?

i've heard e85 will go up since the cost of corn is going up. i would love to go e85, the nearest one to me is atleast 15-20 miles away. I would suggest waiting for a tactrix cable to be released so you can switch between maps so you can run premium and e85 after flashing the ecu. a lot of the 8/9 guys are doing that, but the x does not have this option yet

Good to know. I will definately get this cable once it's released and Ecuflash for the X is ready.

You also need a e85 tune of coarse but I am sure you knew that.

Corn prices go up early in the year anticipating a shortage. I know for a fact that corn is in abundance and having a great year.

I was able to run E85 with nothing more than a ECUFlash tune on my Evo9, but injectors/pump are a good upgrade and make some room for growth.

You're going to need to upgrade your fuel pump and injectors to run E85.

And the price of the corn doesn't affect the price of the Ethanol as much as people think. I'm not saying that it doesn't affect it at all, but not as much.

The biggest driver of the Ethanol price is crude oil. I can explain the fundamentals, but I'm sure no one wants to hear it.

I'm most likely gonna run E85 for the track. Either that or VP109 unleaded.

E85 is wayyyy cheaper then race gas by far, people keep trying to compare it to pump gas (91,93 octane), but what they forget is that with E85, you can run
25+ psi all day long, not only is it cheaper then 91, it is most def the best bang for your buck.

I was talking to Mike W, and we were talking about filling up 2 drums (55 gallons) of E85 every month, cause the station is in the valley somewhere fckin far... lol.

We shall see.

I know it will be soon... big turbo is going in as I type this
