3,000 or 5,000 miles oil changes?
It depends on the car, follow the manufacture recomendations. Unless you drive your car harder than normal. Hell Honda now says 10K miles on a oil change, and the oil still is clean when it comes out. I personally do mine every 3K in all my cars but i only put 6K miles a year on the car and everytime i start the car it sees 8K rpms at least once.
What about this post about MMNA?

I see that 2008 Subaru STI changed their mileage too:

Why would both car companies change recommended oil change?

this topic is so beat to death and this thread is full of nothing but personal opinions, well let me add mine, if you keep your car stock just follow what the manual says and you really should be fine
. I dunno about you guys, but I'll follow what they have to say.
Like others have said, synthetic oil is good for 10k miles assuming no radical changes in outside temperature and assuming gentle driving. If you race it, you should change more frequently. If you are going for a full day at a road course, change your damn oil. But however you drive...
CHANGE YOUR FRICKIN' FILTER EVERY 3k!!!! Old oil, not so good; low oil pressure due to clogged filter, really bad; particulates in your oil recirculating back to your engin, really frickin' bad!!!
