When your car takes like 7 quarts of oil you have alot more fluid to contaminate.

 

I go by what the manufacturer tells me and my manual. Following what they say doesn't void my warranty.

 

BMW and benz have longer intervals because their oil pan is the size of a watermelon. Change it at 3k and send off a sample to an oil analysis lab. Pay 20 bucks and they can tell you how often you should change your oil tailored to your driving habits.

 

i change it every 3 months which is usually less than 3k miles. and i use mobil 1 on mine and the wife's car
