wow I reved my 9 mr and 04 cobra (both FI) to the moon 4 or 5 times in a row to display the motors exhaust note with no similar effects... so according to the mechanical engineers on this forum it should have blown up because you cant free rev a turbod/SCed car a fue times?

lets all go with that and look away from a problem caused by a barely more than harmless action and chalk it off as operator error.

to the OP, you have a legit problem that is shared by other x owners, even though you said you will not again free rev your x ( you shouldnt have to worry about not free reving a new 35k+ car) I hope Mitsu will work out this bug for the 09s.

wow some of the responses in this thread are straight up retarded. Why can't he rev his car? Since when is it at all bad to rev your car to 5000 rpm? That's so dumb. If I bought a sports car and it wouldn't even allow me to rev it, I'd burn it to the ground. I wouldn't rev it anyways because I don't feel the need too but damn.

Why is it that most evo owners think they are gods gift to earth when it comes to cars? Evo's are not at ALLL superior so why do so many people act it? lol like im tired of it lol

interesting ;/ you can rev your engine, CE light shoulnt come up while standing still (eg: if you want to launch the car you rev it 3-4 times and launch it. IF you rev it up to red line while driving, it is not healthy for the engine.

Kind of like a toy airplane...
wind it up a little and it will go a little...
wind it up a little more and it will go a little more...
wind it up a lot and it will go a lot...
wind it up too much and you'll have to build another airplane!
oh well, it sure was fun!!!

BUT MY WILL COME BACK if i rev it up high while NOT DRIVING that how i found it by messing around. I haven't taken it back in cuz its so far to get to a dealership from where i live.

When youlaunch an evo you have no load when you press the gas. It was designed that way . I reved all my cars for what ever reason and nothing happened. you are not suppose to rev with no load for long periods of time not a quickrev. So by your statment, no one should launch their cars at all. This means then the X is weaker than the IX since we can't rev the car Stop making excuses. The car has a problem and mitsu should fix it and you need to stop making excuses

My car doesn't have any problems and too many people are under the false impression that the Evo was intended to be a drag car on this forum.

Drag car or not their should not be a problem reving your car with no load. its when you hold your gas pedal down for long periods of time is when it becomes a problem. I have a v6 TL-S i rev and don't have this problem. And thats also drive by wire

Same as on the old car. Mechanic was shaking his head. They jokingly told me to please not touch any cars in the showroom. LOL.
Kind of an old post but I recognized the code so i figured I'd chime in.
That C121C is a electronic throttle body system code, I would check for software update, etc.
Most traction systems are tightly integrated
into the electronic throttle control system and will usally disable if ANY throttle
system malfunctions are detected. I'm suprised the throttle system didn't go
into limp mode. Really surprising that mitsu didn't know what to do with it. I
guess they figured doing a buyback was easier than waiting on engineering for
a fix.
