EVO X Reviews and False Gods
I had settled on the EVO MR, that is until I drove a 911 Turbo. I purchased a nice 16500 mile 996 TT 911 for about $9800.00 more than a new MR would have cost me. I of course went with a 200 cell cat, free flow mufflers and a nice tune. The car develops a little more than 500 hp and 500 ft lbs of torque. It would have been very hard to get that type of power from a EVO X. I'm a little over 6'2 and can still carry my 7 and 9 year olds in the back seat's, which they love because of the "BUCKET" shape! As with my EVO 8 I still get the "FAST, FAST, Fast" chant from the back seat.

The 911 Turbo is a terrific car, but I'm 6'3 and it's just too small for me. My friend who owns it is 5'10 and that's perfect. I can't imagine anyone over 6 feet tall being comfortable in a 911. It has always been notoriously weak for tall drivers. But everyone is built differently.
Yes, the 911 has back seats, but they are nothing like the back seats of the Evo, which are far better for kids.
As for handling, it's a close call. There's no getting away from the 911's HP. It's incredibly fast all over, and yet we found the Evo more fun to drive on the twisty roads here. I hit some turns harder in the Evo than I felt comfortable doing in the 911.
But again, consider that we're even discussing this! The Evo is a 4 door sedan while the 911 is a no holds barred sports coupe. Amazing.
The Good Captain
I have long legs and a shorter torso, so the roof height isn't as important as for and aft.
Where are you located? We took the 996 on vacation and went from just a little north of San Francisco up highway 1 to fort bragg (the wife got car sick!) and it was awsome! I wish I could take an Evo out and compare it. I did have the old Evo out there a couple of years ago (the inlaws have a place in The Sea Ranch) and I can say the 911 was a little more nimbler, but man the torque out of those hairpin/swithback corners was incrediable!
I did wish a couple of times it could spread the power between all four a little more though, those tight, shaddy area's can be slippery early in the morning!

I'm glad that this was a well written, well versed post with good comments and personal opinions. I've read too too many posts that say "Car X is better than Car Y and that's that!" It's good to read intelligence for a change
