Can we all agree that Mitsubishi leaving off stereo controls from the steering wheel and instead putting the AWC switch there is beyond silly, it's just incompetent?

How often do any of us need to swtich to Gravel on the fly? Why is the button not in the center console?

You go to any rental car store and the majority of those bare-bones cars all have stereo controls on the steering wheel. I'm talking base model Saturns, Mazdas, Chrysler, Chevy's here folks.

What in the f*#$ is Mitsubishi thinking?

And yes, I know there is a write-up how to replace the AWC switch with the stereo controls from the MR, but I don't want to rip half my interior up and spend $200 in parts in the process.

I agree it was a pretty stupid move. It's even more annoying when you accidentally hit the damn AWC switch while turning the wheel.

It's so you will pony up more cash for the MR if you really want those things.

And it will, 120% sure, become an option in the next few model years.

Of you can spend $400 and some time and install them and the bluetooth stuff yourself (or spend a bit more and have the dealer install it all).

That's what I did at least.

My 05 Scion tC didn't have them. Next model year did. Was cost prohibitive to retrofit them on the tC though.

Where did you get the whole kit for $400?

I got them from my dealer (Don Herring in Irving). I think the parts were 4-something + install.

I assume you've seen this: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=326760

Look on the last page, people are talking about just getting the audio controls and not the BT and audio.

If you just do the audio controls (and don't add the bluetooth module that is also covered in that How To) it is ~$100 for parts. I did that and am happy with it.

You were able to get your dealership to add the stereo controls to your car?

Agreed, but who cares? The evo is about performance, and although mitsu stepped up the interior appointments a bit in the X for more market appeal, it's still an evo and that's that. Cheap, no frills interior with some tech bits and that's it. What matters is what it can do on a road course and that is where it shines.

Just got my parts in to the the bootooth and radio controls. Project for next weekend perhaps. Yes very lame. If not for the fact that such an expensive car should have them then at least to avoid drivers hitting it when turning the wheel quickly (ie track session).

They are official Mitsu parts, the dealer will install them for parts + labor.
