im also hearing this ticking. its more then likely normal

 

I have the clicking too 310 miles on my X but with my experience with Imports is most likely normal.

 

Is it a constant noise, or a clack every couple of seconds?

I've got a feeling it's the aircon compressor snapping on and off that you're hearing.

 

The sounds you hearing when you turn the key on and first start the car are more than likely the abs pump/system firing up and going thru its diagnostic routine. The ticking and clacking you hear when idling is probably normal, it is simply the injectors and coils firing and possibly the mivec solenoids cycling. The ticking noise you hear after it's shut off is usually just exhaust system and other components creaking and clicking as they cool and heat soak after the engine is shut down. My car makes all the same noises.

 

^ Bingo, on the abs pump and the rest too. I like the the ticking sound and the way the car idles it just sounds like a engine that can make 291 hp from 2.0 liters. Sweet sounds Evolution FTW

 

Has I wrote, it was during idle... when hot. The last day, no clicking. Maybe it was not cold enough.... to be continued (I'll verify with other evo x)
