Question Engine idle clicking and clapping noise

I found some similar issues regarding this clapping noise while idle for the older model evos. However has anyone noticed this on the Evo X? My MR is less than a month old with 1900 miles on it and tonight when I got out of my car to grab something i noticed the clapping noise. I opened the hood and it didn't sound like it was from the timing belt. It was close to it, so i'm not sure what it is. People have said tensions, but i'm not sure if that applies in my case. I didn't do any mods to the car so i'm a bit confused. Any help please!

Is it a ticking noise you hear maybe? That would be the spark plugs firing.

I have noticed this as well, and only when the car is warmed up. Actually louder than lifter tic on the old 4g63 engines... and it keeps up for a bit if you shut off the engine and leave the key in "accessory".... that leads me to believe it is a relay or solenoid of some kind... perhaps a fan relay?

i hear ticking, but i'm pretty sure that's the plugs, but i also hear a high pitch whine coming from the front between the fan and the engine when you leave the key on accessory. don't know what that is though.

well mainly because I only had the car for less than a month while my old Evo didnt have any of these problems, granted they are completely different engines. I just want to be safe and double check with you guys

double checking is fine. there has been plenty of threads about this in the past. the clickity clack does actually make it sound like a POS 4 cylinder. sounds like my wife's corrolla or my old srt4 that i beat down bad.

actually since there is a thread about this. i just got my reflashes yesterday and noticed today an extra ticking sound at idle. hmmm. i know the reflash alters the timing change retard on cold starts and idle. anybody else have this?

Loud injector tick or spark plugs firing is my guess. My sti did the same, and most performance cars do as well. Big injectors and powerful plugs and BCS systems are loud, deal with it or buy a corolla.

Yeah, my 2 VIIIs had loud engines but the X eclipses both of them. I'm 99% sure the injectors are a lot louder than previous models.

The thing that spooked me is, when you first turn the ignition on, is that there's a loudish electrical 'pop' from under the engine bay. I thought something was shorting out under the hood at first.

My car does this also. You can hear it most if you put your ear behind the motor above the turbo.

today, i heard this clicking noise from the top of my car and I'm pretty sure it's didn't that before. But today was a cold day (about -12 Celcius). I'm going to see another car (maybe two) and tell you more after
