the lotus can be pretty costly when comes to body repair, which is not very rare.
If i would drive a lotus daily in jersey , that would be a disaster here for me. /Money wise/
But i love them. Just my wife freaked out when i showed one to her in the show room...
And that was a end of my Lotus buying adventure.
I was so close She just wanted to see it in person...

19,000 miles...I do have most of the issues we all speak of, but the pros of this car outweigh the cons..

Love it, regardless of the problems.

Just get it if you want it. I doubt you will run into most of the issues that people here are having, and it's a great car for a greal deal right now.

Well here’s the deal. I was planning on picking up an evo today after the sales rep got back to me with a good price and the 0% for 5 years.

But i am still a bit weary. I mean for a 35k car, i feel that some things have been cut short.

The seats fall apart.
gas pedal
oil leaks
other leaks.
idle problems
toe angles cause uneven tire wear

I mean i fell in love with the car the moment i saw it and test drove it. But I don’t want to act on impulse and just buy something and overlook the problems. I mean everything is fixable for the most part, and these are isolated cases. But i just think for a 35k car, there shouldn’t be any. So i guess my question is, what do you guys think? Is it really worth to buy the car and just have the few problems fixed. I mean i really love the car, but i just don’t want to make a stupid decision.

thanks for any input
Most of those problems apply to ALL cars.

Before I settled on my Evo I test drove (and researched) old and new Audi S4's, '07 and '08 STi's, the Evo IX GSR and MR, and the X MR and GSR. In the end I went the Evo X GSR because it's a lot of performance for a reasonable amount of money. And most of all (to me) the X GSR was the MOST FUN to drive of the group (and the interior seemed decent enough for me to spend the next ten years in.)

I understand how you feel though, trying make up your mind with so many different opinions and so much information out there is a real pain. After weeks of reading reviews, message boards, and youTube, and test driving a dozen cars I was exhausted. Research of course is always prudent, but man it sure sucked the fun out. The day I picked up my car I was so over it I had my brother come to pick out a color for me. True story.

For me, the problems were unacceptable. I'll just wait for the XI at least...

At the same time, the problems are limited in a nationwide perspective. Just not compared to honda or toyota.. or subaru.. or nissan... etc.
Guess you haven't heard about the engine recalls, failed engines, and major paint issues plaguing 08 WRX's and STI's. I'll take a 0.05% chance of a pedal breaking over wondering when my engine will fail or if I can get my car repainted under warranty.

Bleh, whatever! Engine recall/failure and paint issues...big deal.

We have a serious issue with our cars: our SEATS are COMING APART!

Subi over Mitsu any day.

Every mass-produced car has problems. Doesn't matter if it costs $19k or $100k. To assume that there's a particular model out there that's had zero warranty repairs is ignorant. Having said that, I don't have any of the problems you wrote down. I assume you prolly read about someone having them on here. This is is the internet. Anybody with a keyboard can write whatever they want, with nobody verifying what they wrote beforehand. I don't believe 90% of the crap I read on the internet. If you believe the seats fall apart, the alignment is set to ruin your tires, it's got idle problems, oil leaks, "other" leaks, and "gas pedal"(whatever that means), don't buy it. Simple as that.

If I didn't have one already I sure as **** wouldn't buy one now. This is about the worst time to buy anything unless you absolutely have to. I should buy a DeLorean so I can go back to April 2008 and punch myself in the nuts for buying a $35K car just before the bottom dropped out.

You could go through life buying sensible $16k econo cars if it would make you sleep better. On the other hand, if the dollar succumbs to hyper-inflation like 1923 Germany or modern day Zimbabwe, you have your choice of buying lunch or paying off your car note. This is the BEST time to buy (if you have $).

Read my post right after that.

Like I said, 97% of the cars won't have any problems. There's a fine line between complaining and getting what we pay for right? I'm just saying if we as consumers start accepting every little problem saying what's the big deal... molehills can turn into mountains. Honestly probably the same reason Mitsu cut down on the quality control. Again, 97% or so won't have any major problems. There's warranty, but we all know how Mitsubishi can be. And the X's problems aren't stopping me from driving and having fun, just stopping me from doing it in a X again (at least for a bit)

And yea, I'm not saying those minor issues (seats, paint) are the ones that bugged me. But when you have other issues, things pile up and when it rains it pours.
I'm honestly really happy for you who are doing well with your X's. Bad luck for me I guess
