so me and one of my good friends were talking at work today hes an indian guy. has lots of money drives one of the new M3s. anyway he said overseas the evo X GSRs there come with SST and a sunroof option. sucks for us here because you'd have to get an MR to get that. and me like most people here that got an MR run into a lot of traffic and its a pain having a manual trans. he said over there you could get a GSR SST with sunroof for about 27k USD.. possibly less..do you think it would be worth it importing one here? or wuold you spend just as much as getting an MR getting it here?

 

You would easily spend as much. I brought over a LHD Civic Type R, amazing amount of crap to go thru. Just buy it here, you can get one for about 36k if you shop around.

 

Easily 20K to upgrade it to USDOT safety, and fed smog standards. Then there's the reg nightmare.

and kevin you say 20k including swapping the steering wheel to the other side right? well the ones id be looking into it would be already on the left side if that makes any difference

 

Nope. Just the glass and safety changes alone would be over 2k, not to mention the emissions, which is where the big money comes in. You cannot just add USDM parts. You have to go thru testing and get exceptions, the ecu has to be looked at, and on and on..Not to mention the customs duty and transport.

Trust me, do not even consider it one more second!

 

HA the reason i bought the GSR was because of the 5 speed. But you might want to look into the RALLIART, and just beef that up a lil if you dont want to spend the cash of the MR.
