To those with Mitsu mud flaps
I got my factory mud flaps installed with about 600 miles on the car and, although I'm sure I'm better off with them, I checked the car at 900 miles and there was a small chip. I'm almost positive that it wasn't there before the install of the flaps bu there's no way to be 100% sure. I'm going to have the 3m clear bra installed this weekend for some added protection. From reading the "Damaged Paint" thread it seems that the only way to really combat this is with the side skirts that come with the Aero Kit. Unfortunately if you don't have this kit already it's about $850 plus installation. Either way you should install some kind of mud flap or your precious paint will pay the price.
mudflaps on a sportscar!!! come on guys....seriously why don't u just get some clear 3m stuff and put it there to protect the paint....sounds really cheesy putting mud flaps on one of these cars.........maybe i'm just nuts
Come on.................. How many Evo owners actually Rally Race their cars????? My guess..... Not very many!!!
And for those that "track" their cars........... you can temporarily place the blue "racing tape" in that area during track days.

Shhh... it's a secret!
Back on topic...
I have the mitsu Mudguards and love them. I got them after like 2k miles though and had a significant amount of rock chips already. The mudguards audibly and visually pretty much eliminated further chips. I also love the way they look.
Instructions also made for a pretty quick and painless install.

I think the mudflaps look good on the car, though I'm a HUGE WRC fan.
If i get one, I'll be getting "them".
"A sports car is a term used to describe a class of automobile. The exact definition varies, [1] but generally it is used to refer to a low to ground, light weight vehicle with a powerful engine. Most vehicles referred to as sports cars are rear-wheel drive, have two seats, two doors, and are designed for more precise handling, acceleration, and aesthetics"
The Evo is not a sport car.
The evos is a sport compact car.
"Performance modifications of regular, production cars, such as sport compacts, sports sedans, muscle cars, hot hatches and the like, generally are not considered sports cars, yet share traits common to sports cars. They are sometimes called "sports cars" for marketing purposes for increased advertising and promotional purposes.[3] Performance cars of all configurations are grouped as Sports and Grand tourer cars, or, occasionally, as performance cars."
about the mudflaps.
The roots of the Evo is a rally. That's the place where it is born back in the 1980's.
Since then ,even today they do run with mudflaps , because of the nature of that type of race.
So it i s just as proper to use them on the Evo, as using the wings on the porsche's.
Different world different idea.
You need to look up the Evo history and heritage. Fact, it is insulting to say about the Evo , the mudflaps is not belongs on them.
