Does anyone know what's going on with RallyArmor?

Hey Guys,

I have an even coming up next weekend that I was planning on taking the STI to, but it looks like I've been bitten by the cracked ringland issue and now I'll have to take the Evo. So, I'm scrambling to get everything set.

I ordered a set of RallyArmor mudflaps from their site first thing this morning with the hope that they'd ship them today and I'd have them by the weekend. Right after I placed the order (through their site) I received an automated receipt email. Then, at ~6:15pm I got another automated message showing a change in the order status, but instead of saying that they were shipped, it said "refunded", and there was nothing listed in the comments section.

I immediately sent an email asking what was going on, but haven't heard anything. I know that some of you guys here know the guys so I thought I'd ask here to see if anyone else has had any trouble or if anyone know what is going on.

Thanks,

--Josh

They're on vacation for 2 weeks. Should be back by this coming Monday, iirc.

But I paid with PayPal and they refunded that payment as well, so someone had to have done that manually. Either way, some sort of explanation would have been nice.

i am sure that they will explain it,...after they get back from vacation

if you need something and want to make sure that you get it asap, call the company you are buying from and speak to live person, that helps

I spoke with them just now and they explained that they refunded my order because of our previous dealings. I completely understand where they are coming from, and hope that we are able to come to an agreement as I desperately need a set of competition-grade mudflaps for my Evo X as I aim for the National RallyCross championship next weekend, and they make the best around.

I'd like to publicly thank them for taking the time to discuss this with me, and for the great products that have served me well and protected both my '07 and '08 STI's on their way to winning races and championships over these last two years. Hopefully we can find a way to continue that winning relationship.

I think this line of your pretty much explains everything.

It comes to show that you should never burn bridges, because you'll never know when you need to cross it again.

I'm kind of lost... Because of "previous dealings" they don't want to do business with you? So in other words, you had a negative experience with them in the past?

The short version is this: Last year I bought an '07 STI to race RallyCross in the stock class and the first thing I bought for it was a set of RallyArmor mud flaps and they were great. This past spring I moved to an '08 STI for this season, but it took them a while to get the application for the '08's developed and I needed them for a race. When push came to shove and there were only a couple weeks to go I was desperate for a set so I set off to make my own. The local urethane manufacturer could only do a minimum of 10 sets at a time, so I decided to sell the rest to the other '08 owners who were going nuts waiting for a set as well.

It proved to be a lot more work to get a high quality production ready product developed, which gave me a full appreciation of what they did. They announced that theirs were shipping the day before I had to place the order to have the local guys make them, so I ordered a set of theirs and told the couple people who were going to buy mine that the RallyArmor set would be a better product and canceled things on my end and forgot all about it. The '08 flaps have worked great this season.

Now that my STI has a blown engine (cracked ringland issue) a week and a half before the National Championship I'm scrambling to get the Evo set up so that I can run it. The first thing that I need is a good set of competition-grade mud flaps, so I ordered a set. They didn't know what the situation was and decided not to sell them to me.

So, I have always been happy with their products and would like to continue to use them. I didn't burn any bridges intentionally, but I did start looking for another path when I had no other choice but to do so. I'm hopeful that we can find a way to work together, because this is holding up the whole preparation process. (No way to know what alignment to go with until I run it on the dirt, but I have to have good protection before I can do that, etc.)

i know its an old post, but man, you must have really pissed them off. Having been a vendor, the only time i would cancel order (never have so far) is if someone really, on multiple occasion called me worst of names and spread lies about me in public.

Otherwise, if you want to make your own, you always can,

you can start by going here and purchasing pre-cut pieces of urethane (i think that these are thicker than what RA uses):

http://www.rallylights.com/detail.aspx?ID=508

then get youself some SSteel washers, screws, etc for mounting and you are allset

the only thing is that it might cost you same or actually more for material than what RA sells product for.

Your Choice.

Well, not my choice, actually. They decided not to sell them to me and I promised not to buy them through any other manner if they chose not to. I'm a man of my word, so the Evo went through the Nationals and the last six months with the rear RallyArmor flaps from my '07 STI improvised and screwed onto the fronts of the Evo. They're sitting all crooked and angled out due to the bump, so in the end it probably doesn't represent their products very well since the logos are on them, but it was the only choice that I had at the time.

Thanks for the link, I wasn't aware of those blanks. I need to figure something better out sometime soon as my first race is coming up at the end of June.
