Congratulation AMS...

for winning the 2008 Ultimate street car challenge I was just walking by the newstand and the title "A New King is Born" on the lastest Sport Compact Car issue caught my eye. Inside testing was the AMS Evo X, Mazda3, BMW 325i, Evo VIII, R32 GT-R, an Audi, Impreza L, 350Z, R35 GT-R. Very impressive article, scoring from Base Price to Gross display of horsepower?! and the winner is: AMS Evo x. dont have scanner sorry. More info on the 487hp evo x please.

Thank you!

As Ivan said it has been really hard these past couple of months to keep quiet about the win. The competition was really tough and considering we put this car together in under three weeks from start to finish we were THRILLED just to even compete in the event. To win was just awesome!! We have competed in a bunch of different events over the past few years from One lap of America, Time attack, Drag Racing, Top Shop and so on. What was the most impressive and shocking thing we took away from this event was what we put into this car. This was bar car the most mildly modified "shop" car we have ever built. It was just some bolt ons, a custom turbo kit and some good suspension and brake upgrades. The motor from valve cover to oil pan was BONE STOCK and completely untouched. This is a car that any EVO X owner could easily build.

Here is a basic run down of the parts that were on the car:

AMS Prototype GT30R Turbo kit
AMS Front Mount EVO X Intercooler
AMS Upper intercooler pipe
AMS Small Battery Kit
AMS prototype fuel surge tank system
AMS Shifter bushings
AMS Fuel Rail
AMS corner weight and alignment
Endura-Tech prototype Monotube coilover system
Stoptech 4 Corner big brake kit
RC Engineering 750cc injectors
buddy Club seats
Exedy Stage II clutch

I think that is about it. If I have left something out I am sorry...its a bit late here and the eyes are not what they used to be.

Thank you to all of our sponsors that helped with this build. We will do a full release on this next week with some details on the actual event and what we were up against.

looks like the little EVO X with a little work and can handle a GTR just fine

THANK YOU AGAIN!

Eric

Congrats on the win! Its nearly 1am in Jersey and after reading this post, I just drove to two nearby 7/11's to try and find the magazine, but all I could get is the introductory issue. I'll look for it tomorrow.

This issue writes that you guys had the block sleeved, AMS spec Ross pistons, and some form of upgraded headstuds.

Yes, that article was written quite a bit before the event. We had plans on getting our built motor in it but that did not happen. I am kind of glad it didnt go in. It gave us the opportunity to explore the capability of the stock motor. The 4B11 is a great motor!!

We have plans on getting the built motor in our new X before SEMA but it does not look like that is going to happen either. lol.

P.S. I have been looking for the magazine myself and have not found it either.

yeah, we were going to put that in when we initially submitted the modification list but we fell short on time and had to run just a stock longblock.

I'm glad to see the stock block can handle nearly 500whp in a torture test. Gives me hope!
