prices are as built and i'm sure they used MSRP prices to add up the costs of the mods.

This video crystalizes why so many people including myself switched from sti to evo. Although they both are excellent cars, evo simply is a better handling car.

EVO's are always going to be better track cars, as I see it. Handling, width and all of that is just better than subarus.

You guys have to admit that there is something wrong with some of those numbers.

I think the STi was either making less than they advertised, or the Evo was making more than they advertised. Either way, that video was crap anyways...the driver was annoying.

I didn't watch the vid, but stock for stock, the Evo beat the STI by 6 seconds at VIR in the C&D lightning lap. That should be a pretty good indicator.

I hate to argue from the other side but stock for stock, the Evo and the STI are pretty comparable power wise. One of the major advantages of the STI is the torque, yes it drops off before redline but there's still gobs of it throughout the powerband. This only becomes more apparent when you reflash the ECU and put a TBE on it. There is no denying that the Evo has a better turbo stock but that doesn't equate to a better motor. As far as the actual engine is concerned, they're pretty close. Each car has their advantages and their disadvantages though, I wish I had an inline four to work with since the boxer motor is a pain in the *** to mod. As for the actual test, it was made for TV so who knows how accurate it is. The Evo is undeniably a better track car, at the local track, a bone stock GSR posted numbers that were significantly faster than a bone stock STI. With R-compounds people are expecting it to match the times of Lamborghinis and Ferraris. However, how much does that matter in the real world though?

Well I look at it this way. Cars designed for the real world are Accords, Civic's, Camry's etc. EVO and STI are developed with one purpose in mind and that's performance. The EVO X is so much better at what it was designed for that videos like this are pretty well ant-climatic .

Update:

They know about it. Of course they're in disbelief because the STI is so much lighter and it has more power. But stock the STI is lighter and has more power yet it still loses on the track and everything else except drag. What they don't know is that the Evo gains so much power from a tune and like the guy from Harman Motive said it exaggerates any other mod from there on. Throttle response is so good on the Evo after a tune, the results of this comparison don't surprise me. Here's their link:

Typical Subaru fanboy denial. Subaru fans are the worst.

99% of cars are designed for the real world, the fact is that most people who buy STIs, Evos, Corvettes, Vipers, Porsches, Ferraris, etc. will never see a track and have no desire to do so. This is why the TC-SST is such a big hit or why both the Evo and the STI come with AC, good sound systems, navigation, airbags, etc. If the Evo was designed purely with performance in mind, it wouldn't weight 3600 lbs since it could trim away all the unnecessary luxuries. I know a few people that were turned away from the Evo because they couldn't rationalize one as a daily driver since they had to deal with the wife, the kids and various other things. In the real world, you won't notice that big a difference between the two cars and it basically boils down to personal preference. At the track, the Evo is king stock. If you get into modified territory, anything can happen.

Yeah cause Evo fans are just that much better, have you not seen the multiple Cobalt threads that have popped up recently? Fanboys of any kind are bad, it doesn't matter if they like civics, evos, subarus, whatever.
