I called RC Hill , The OB GSR is the only one priced that way They have other ones with the same MSRP but they will not honor the sale price on those colors. It seems odd that there is a $1200 dollar difference on that exact car only.
The salesman would not tell me if it was a demo and they are not required in Florida to disclose damage at shipping on lot damage. This vehicle seems fishy but anyway it is a great deal. I can't do that deal...

Hi everyone,
I will be buying a 2012 or 2013 Evo MR soon fully loaded with all packages, except Navigation (buying and installing NAV myself). Based on the Mitsu website, my car would cost about $43,000, so my question is what would I realistically pay right now for a 2012 model out the door with great credit? I know if I get the newer 2013 model I won't get as nice a deal, but any ideas from the salesman/dealers here what I would realistically pay if price remained same for 2013?
I plan to give about $5,000 down and finance for longest term possible. I also was considering the Diamond Advantage finance plan- has anyone used it?

This should help you
Okay, so I am in the market for an Evo and I decided to get the report from Consumer Report. This report breaks down the actual dealer cost of vehicles along with packages and options. Here is an example of what dealers actually pay for the base model 2012's:
Base GSR: $33,144
Base MR: $36,146
^ Those are the ACTUAL prices dealers pay for the cars.
The dealer invoice:
Base GSR: $33,834
Base MR: $36,900
MSRP:
Base GSR: $34,495 + $795 (Destination) = $35,290
Base MR: $37,695 + $795 (Destination) = $38,490
Here is how it works, they take the actual cost of the car than add the "dealer hold back". On the Evo the dealer hold back is $690 (GSR) and $754 (MR). This becomes the "dealer invoice". The dealer then marks the car up 5%-10% this is the "MSRP".
One of the best dealers in Texas is Don Herring, I noticed on their site that they have marked the cars below MSRP, even going so far as to mark them $1 below dealer invoice. This means that on a brand new MR, they make $753 (or $689 on a GSR).
MSRP and dealer hold back is where dealers make money on new car sales.
The second way dealers make cash is through financing. If you finance through the dealer they actually make a loan application on your behalf. When they do this, the dealer may legally tack on an additional percentage for financing, typically up to 2%.
This is the second area dealers make money.
The third area dealers can make money is off your trade in. This is actually the area where the dealers can potentially make the most money. Do your research.
At the end of the day remember the dealer has to make money one way or another. If you manage to get a good deal on the price of the car and you secure your own loan ahead of time directly from the bank then be prepared to be flexible on the trade in. Don't take a loss, but remember NADA shaves thousands of dollars off the trade in value and what the dealer is going to sell the car for.
