Geez, you guys are making me feel GREAT about my IX.

I have 16k miles and I was getting depressed that I was closing in on 20k. Now that I realize you have 20k on your X's.......well....its making it all better !

I changed down to factory recommended pressure (in the door jam) at that time. Since that time have kept pressures where they belong and rotated them once.

My back tires, now in front have probably another 3000 to 5000 miles left in them, the backs (were the front) have maybe 2000-3000 left. I will be at 10K when they are done. My remaining tire life estimates are based on the 8000 miles I have on the car so far and how much rubber is still left.

The tires that were in front are somewhat badly worn (not even) on the inside tread on both tires. Could it be the alignment was that bad from the factory? I have been very careful and not done anything that would explain bad alignment.

My 05 Evo VIII was out of alignment from the day I bought it. It caused my Advans to wear out unevenly and prematurely. My 08 Eclipse GT was out of alignment when I bought it in April of this year (fixed under warranty). One can pretty much assume that there is a high probability that any new Mitsu car will need to have its alignment checked right off the lot.

it might be your drive belts. Take your car up to autozone and have them take a look

Why is that so? So everyone needs an alignment when they buy the car?

That should be BS.

Do you think I can get the dealer to pay for an alignment at this point?

My X had just under 7000 miles on it when I traded it in. My current car has 3000 miles. I got my X in January, and 2000 of those miles were the cross country trip from picking it up. You drive a ton!

When I traded my X in, the tires were mostly dead. Like, they maybe had another 3k on them before they looked like slicks. You guys getting 20k out of your Advans are impressive! I liked going around turns fast too much in that car.

I hope you get that check tarmac thing fixed ASAP so you can go back to enjoying your car!

Vehicles are strapped down for transport on the ship, trains, and trucks. Not good for the alignment. It is overlooked by most dealers and consumers.

I just hit 6K on my 8 month old X...I don't drive it much, but I absolutely don't regret buying it.

Good to hear that you're still enjoying the car. I think for the most part the issues you're experiencing are fixable by the dealer (hopefully). Would be interested in hearing from you again at 30K.
