After run fan?

Newbie. JDM Evo X. Manual in Japanese so don't flame me and i searched all the relevant forums for this. My question is

How long does the after run feature stay on for? and what causes it to kick as it always doesn't come on when i switch off.

3 minutes and it is supposed to come on after heavy boosting if you just shut the car off soon after. it's to cool the oil down and prevent baking up in the lines.

It comes on when the coolant temp is above 220 degrees and you have shut down the car. I believe it runs until the temp has dropped much below 200, but not sure on that.

Totally normal.

I dont think I ever got my car above 220 coolant at the track or the street all summer....sumthins up if thats the case. I've had mine run for 10 min in the garage after a long drive home in bumper to bumper (intake temp was in the 120's the whole time). I dont think there is a spec. time-but like most have said-its normal-to help cool the engine.

Misinformation.... it does not cool the oil. Do not think you can go out and run your car hard and shut it off and your oil won't boil in your turbo.....

Be smart drive easy before you shut your car off, this fan isn't a solve all cooling issues type device.

what part is misinformation? the oil baking in the lines or the fan cooling down the oil? a fan running after boosting hard won't cool much down if the car isn't running or even moving but that has been the suggestion in the manual and with some on this site. driving without spooling the turbo hard is the really only effective way to cool things down or keep it cool.

i don't know where i got the 3 minutes from. i think it says that in the manual. just a number that stuck in my head.

Fan does not cool down the oil, the oil is not circulating while the fan is running. the fan will not prevent the baking of the oil.

yea thats right... the only thing that will keep the oil from baking in the lines would to be to let your car cool down... this only helps bring the coolant temps down.
