Why the MPG gauge?
Why the MPG gauge?
Hi,
I test drove a X today since I am tying to buy one...
I saw that under the MPG reading, there is a small bar that goes from 0 to 75... I guess that is also the miles per gallon... but then, why all the way to 75??? Why not make the bar shorter and more accurate that way?
BTW: What is your MPG reading right now?
Thx

it's instantaneous mpg. So if you accelerate to 80 and let off the gas then that bar will jump to full. I don't know why it is there. I think it's just their for entertainments sake. Above the bar it displays average MPG and MPH
Having this guage go all the way to 80/90 is meaningless as you have to be well off the gas to get halfway up the guage.
I would much, much rather see it calibrated up to 30mpg - i.e. a bit over the maximum you could get whilst still cruising .... or better still, to simply display a number.
It could make it meaningful to see economy cruising at 60mph vs 70 vs 80 etc.
Do you reckon that a minor "aesthetic" thing like this could be updated by a mitsi in software flash?
