Low tire pressure light on with cold weather

Yesterday i got in my car after work, it was about 48 degrees out. As soon as i moved my car, the low tire pressure light came on. I got out the car and all tires looked in check. Went to the gas station to check the pressure and all 4 were like at 22 psi or so. Filled them up to 30psi each, the light went away. I talked to my dad last night on the phone and told me samething happened to both of his cars. Anyone else getting the light with cold weather?

Air contracts when cooled. Your tires are colder, so the air inside them takes up less space, and thus the pressure drops. You should always recheck tire pressures as seasons change, if not more often.

A good rule is you loose at least 1psi per 10degree drop in temperature.

Same thing would happen in my MR once the weather started becoming cold. The light would go off after about 10 minutes of driving, but I plan to put a little more air in soon. I guess that's what happens after the weather goes from 85+ F to 50 F

Happened to me. Dropped down to 26psi in all four just because of the cold.

Just because the light isn't on doesn't mean your tire pressure is not low. We're looking at you, EvoAndy

I check my tire pressure atleast 2-3X month and set as necessary. I like to try diferent combo's.The stock cold presure of 32lbs F/R seems to be pretty good.
I tried higher and got slight bounce. My STi was 36lbs F & 30 rear-WTF???
Just knowing the even 32lbs in the Evo all around tells me the weight is more balanced than the Subaru.
I have a Craftsman air pump,so it's a breeze to check/adjust.Especially when "cold".
