From the Mobil Oil dot com Web site:

"Mobil 1 Limited Availability
We regret the limited availability of Mobil 1 motor oil. Due to the impact of Hurricane Ike on our raw material suppliers, we are experiencing limited availability of Mobil 1 motor oils. We appreciate your loyalty to the Mobil 1 brand and the trust you have placed in our products. We are working quickly to have your choice of Mobil 1 motor oils available at normal levels as soon as possible. Thank you for you patience."

I don't understand. Mobile One (and all full-synthetic oils) do not contain any petroleum products. At least that is what I have always understood.

If so, why would the hurricanes in the petroleum producing states effect the production of a motor oil that does not contain any petroleum?

I found some Mobil 1 so I wasn't in a panic ... I was just inconvenienced.
This post was more of a heads up on the shortage and a "what else would I/could I use".

German Castrol? Does it have like German writing on it?
Pepboys was running a Pennzoil special ... $25 for 5 qts of their full synthetic and a filter.
Case of Mobil 1 ran me $41 ... K&N filter $11.

Same problem here with me. I had to buy the mobil 1 extended performance. Is this basically the same as mobil 1 synthetic?

It is better than normal Mobil 1. More protection and durability.. but it does cost more.

Maybe the terms garbage is abit excessive but it is not the oil you want to be using in an Evo

Here is a couple of important tests related to OIL that shows Quakerstate performance:

HIGH TEMP BREAKDOWN

OIL LIFE
