Shortage of Mobil 1 in America?

I went to 4 stores that all said the same thing ... that Mobil 1 was on short supply due to damages done by hurricanes in southeastern USA ...

so my question is ... other than Eneos, Royal Purple, AMSoil ... are there any store bought oils you would use in your car? Penzoil, etc?

Same thing happened to me last week. Nothing at any National auto parts store, nothing at Wal Mart.

Check your local Sears auto store (no one buys anything from them anyway) They had plenty in stock.

As long as you use a quality name full synthetic oil that meets the specs you will be ok. I have used Castrol, Pennsoil, Quaquer State.

Im glad someone posted this, I was in walmart yesterday and there was still plenty on the shelf, i had to change the oil in my wrangler. But I think I might go buy an extra gallon or two now that im hearing this. I use quaker state syn 4x4 in my jeep and ive never had a problem with it and it lasts longer than most so I would think the high performance syn would be ok in an evo but ive never ran anything other than mobil one in it. As for penzoil and valvoline I WILL NOT use either of them in anything, I saw a test result years ago that said they tend to have higher acid levels than other oils. And acidity is something I wouldn't want in my engine.

I see it on the shelves in plenty of places. Not a big reason to panic: there are plenty of synthetics that are as good/better than Mobil 1. It used to be in a league of its own, but the competition has definitely caught up/passed them. Find some of the German Castrol and be happy...

If I were to switch from Mobil 1 it would be for Castrol Syntec. Redline and Amsoil are good too, but much more expensive. I don't even think Mobil 1 is that good anymore (especially after it lost its lawsuit against Castrol) but I'm still using it just because it was the factory fill and its all the car has ever gotten.

Walmart was all out of Mobil1 5w-30 (5-quart jug) for a while, but this weekend, they were fully stocked on all Mobil1 products. Not sure if this is regional. Might want to check Walmart because it looked like they had just restocked everything. I picked up an extra 5-quart container for my next oil change just in case.

Also, Costco has had their 6-quart cases of Mobil1 for a long time (haven't noticed any time they were out of stock). However, their price per quart is more expensive than Walmart.

Recently all of the local Walmarts around me in Virginia have been out of the 5 qt jugs of Mobil 1. At least when I have checked.

I haven't seen the 5qt jugs in some time. I typically have to buy the 4qt and a spare 1qt to top off.
