+1, I wouldn't call bumping the redline to 8000 and the boost to 25 psi "BONE STOCK!!!"

thats oke...
The bone stock means no after market parts on the car what so ever. Now the ECU is still OEM, but different MAP.
So the car is Bone stock with different ecu map. It is modified but stock car parts only.
Now in the test the car is modified with the ecu flash. You see that is two different league.

Also why i posted there , because some ASk for the stock evo with ecu flash....

edmunds.com logs one of the worst numbers for the magazine tests, save a few exceptional cases like the GTR review. Perhaps its due to weather and CA gas, or simply just bad driving. But I think their write ups are decent considering that they are free stuff.

In their first couple years the reviews lacked bias and emphasized more on negative points of all the cars they reviewed on, which got me hooked. Unfortunately they lost those uniqueness and started to become more like a free online version of R&T / MT.

If I’m not mistaken Edmunds is on the west coast, so they get 91 octane, that has a lot to do with their results. I would not be so quick to dismiss the results of the Edmunds tester or those of reputable mags, like Car and Driver and Road and Track. They use calibrated, accurate test equipment and standardized procedures, so it’s not a crap shoot. And they do this for a living, so they test lots of cars and their skill level is probably well above average. Let’s put it this way, if a Edmunds tester do 4.4 sec 0-60, most of us will probably do worse in the same car.

so what is the difference mod wise between tuner vs tuner? both is a same level of modification.
BUT the test evo is NOT bone stock it has full ic set up , cat back exhaust and intake.

The other is bone stock.
We know AMS is a great company , so the test result is depend the driver, who is sucks big time.
Just got back a couple of hours ago from having my bone stock EVO X tuned by the great Sean Ivey.
I would like to start off by saying Sean is and always has been professional while doing business with him.
Up until today i used to have a X but my Mitsu morphed into an EVO in about 3 hours.
Redline was bumped up to 8000 rpms, 2 step is set at 5900 rpms and boost is set at 25lbs tapering down.

Anyway onto the numbers.

Here is my baseline pulls:

1st: 270.25whp 279.41 ft. lbs.
2nd: 264.52whp 275.68 ft. lbs.

Heres where it was when it was all finished:

313.68 whp 317.65 ft. lbs.

BONE STOCK!!!!

Evo X Plus Iveytune

"Went back to the track tonight with less gas and a little more seat time.
Here is my best run of the night only could get 2 runs in.

Are you all ready for this:

60' 1.628
330 4.995
1/8 7.828
mph 86.55
1000 10.329
1/4 12.33
mph 110.47

This car is really starting to impress me with what i have been able to run with no mods other than my Ecutek tune that i got from the EVOMASTER Sean Ivey. All runs were full weight, 93oct., about 1/4 tank or less."

My IVEYTUNED X goes even faster with NO MODS!!!

If you test a car on track, you pick a rainy day ?
But the regular guys, got the best track to run 1/4 mile?
Sorry just dont fit.
They generally test at Cal Speedway/Autoclub/Fontana. It's at about 1200 ft elevation and in the desert; it's dusty there. 91 octane gas here blows, worse than the 91 in AZ. By bumping my octane up to ~93 mixing in 100oct, I gain about 20-30whp on my car. Even a completely stock 350Z dynos about 10-15whp higher on 93 compared to the 91 we get here in Cali.

My friends back in Florida use to drag at Gainesville Raceway. The only times they ever prep the track are for NHRA Gatornationals. My friends have datalogged their runs and at the track, can only cut about a 2.1 60' time. However, on the street right outside the track, immediately after they left the track, they were able to cut a 1.8 60'. The racetrack actually had less grip than the street.

If you read the edmunds MR vs G8,http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...ticleId=137186 the drivers dont know about the MR launch mode. they were just putting their feet on gas+break and launching at 3k. This is from the article. [For all the ballyhoo about automated manual transmissions, the MR's TC-SST gearbox really hamstrings the Evo when it comes to catapulting forward from a standstill. Revs are limited by the engine controller to only 3,200 rpm when you're two-pedaling it on the starting line, which are too few revs to fully exploit the massive traction of the car's all-wheel-drive system.]

Sean Ivey is not to be reckoned with. Wish he was closer.

Wow, a 4.1 with one foot rollout on that GSR! Damn, those are IS-F numbers right there... wowzers!

Nice... I guess buying the most expensive of the trims doesn't seem like the best option... but again that depends on what is it u want the car for... AND the MR didn't have the same mods :S It would've been awesome to see both workin on the same tune and bolt-ons!
