Gauge pods

Just to gather some info.... which one do you prefer?

1. on the pillar
2. on the dash above the instrument cluster

I don't think you should do the pillar but it's what I would prefer. Just think if the airbag goes off and the driver catches a boost gauge to the face.

pillar = lawsuit waiting to happen

Ugh. This is completely false. The airbag would not do anything to gauges mounted on the A pillar. This rumor needs to be squashed. The A pillar plastic moves maybe 1" when the airbags are deployed.

Since I got a cage, I would vote for the dash... since my A-pillar is a little pre-occupied.

OP: Are you going to be building something special to mass produce or are you just creating a thread to see what people would prefer?

Well I haven't had mine go off and it's my opinion.

Pillar would be your best move. No one else has done it yet. Here is a pic of the A-Pillar after the side curtains go off. Not sure whos lancer this is, but I found the pic online somewhere.

If your a super balla, i'd build both...maybe make 50 of each?

I am almost 100% sure if your price point is decent i'd say between $69.99-$89.99 shipped you'd sell outta both REAL quick.

Just please make sure these are COLOR MATCHED to the interior in whatever choice you do.

Nothing worse then having a shiny black gauge pod, with a charcoal dash.

Or a black gauge pod to a gray a pillar.

Just my .02

Rexpeed is developing a single pod to be mounted on the A-pillar.

does this match good enough (this is an exact replica of the stock unit with gauges installed).... even though it is the one off the Mazdaspeed3 above the radio.

Pillar, but if someone makes a dash one that is nice, and with a way not to drill the dash to pass the cables im in. The reason i preffer pillar is cause is less blockage in the middle view.

On the dash if its nice and I don't have to ruin the dash. I don't ever want to run a pillar again.
