The jist I get from that is it needs quite a bit of work
The roof is to save weight so a bolt on would add weight.

I'm under the impression that you are looking for a carbon fiber look to your roof and not an actual carbon fiber ROOF. the ams carbon fiber roof is not for a casual DD car. I could be wrong and maybe you do want to replace your roof.
if you just want the CF look, there is vinyl sticker you can get put on your roof for ~100 bucks.

It is very easy to get a CF look if thats what you wish to achieve. Just like Gexxer mentioned, a simple vinyl sticker would do the trick.
The AMS CF roof would not be cheap to get. The point of it is to shave weight off the X which is vital in time attack evos. I might not have read up on everything, but installation of a roof is extremely stressful and definately not DIY. You would also need to remove both the front windshield and rear. Getting a professional to install the CF roof will add a significant amount of labor cost to the already expensive roof.
But, if you wish to go for it, it is definately a piece worth getting. At least its not a piece that only looks good, but also give you a slight performance gain (in terms of weight loss).

This isn't a Roof Cap, its a full replacement
To install, this is a rough guide of what you would need to do:
First you need to remove headliner, then front windshield, followed by rear window, rain gutters and anything else that could get in the way. Drill out the spot welds, I believe there is also glue underneath also? Not 100% positive
Then you need to add glue (black, probably a weather sealant as well) to the top frame of the car, set CF Roof, then drill holes in the roof for rivets. Replace rain gutters, install windows, put back interior.... and oh... the best one... YOU MIGHT WANNA HAVE A ROLL CAGE
I wouldn't trust a CF roof with out a roll cage.
This is probably not for everyone, and most likely not a DIY project unless you are VERY handy and hands on type of person, and have all the proper tools.
Hope some of this helps.
