firefighter81: The X is so fckin heavy because of all the ADDED metal to the frame (because of safety standards). If you have seen the frame of this car VS VIII's and IX's you can clearly see the difference, and that is where a lot of the extra weight comes from.

Ryan, you drop another 300 lbs that car is gonna be nuts! Can't wait! Let the cutting begin!!!

Ryan- I really think your new rims will be too heavy for your setup. Keep the CE's and GIVE me the new ones

Hey look at it as another trip to hawaii for a good cause

Nice work on the car, probably the best looking X I've seen, and your car is actually my wallpaper on my work computer.
It's heavy because, like Chris said, tons of added metal for rigidity and safety. And thanks for the compliments man!

Yeah, I understand that the added metal to the frame is what causes the weight increase. It's just I keep hearing from people how airbags are making all new cars soooooo heavy, when it reality, they don't weigh much at all.

Oh I know, I was totally surprised to see how light they are reality...kinda bummed haha. I know there is more than a few layers of metal in the A/B/C-pillars and the roof rails...hoping to get some of that out as well as some excess around the rest of the cabin. When I was at AMS, I saw up close all the weight Ivan/Shaun took out in those areas...knowing that it's possible helps build moral on my end

I just weighed my stock suspension components and got a grand total of 64.8lbs, while the stock exhaust from the cat back weighs a total of 42.8lbs.

Stock suspension= 64.8
Stock exhaust (mid-pipe and muffler)= 42.8

Thanks for the info! I don't have the weights for my suspension or the exhaust, but I'll see what I can do.

Some more info.... (thanks buschur)

Stock cat, 15 pounds
Stock air box, 9.7 pounds
Vibration damper (located behind stock FMIC) 3 pounds

---------------------------------
Looks like with a light exhaust and test pipe you lose about 33lbs of weight. Now we need weight of a O2 eliminator vs stock cast piece.

Also, switching to a aftermarket intake drops about 6.7lbs.

Good thread blacktrack.

are you sure she doesn't have an access to the net?
because if she does and find out this, she will take the car key away from you for a month at least.

Anyway that's the way to talk your mom for sure...
